Equestria Girls seems to be aimed at a slightly older audience, so we might see something happen there.  Someone at some point decided Flash Sentry was a thing that needed to happen.

In the main series no, especially with major characters.  They might give subtle nods to some of the more popular ones.

i don't think Hasbro or anyone else is willing to risk the amount of headaches that will result from the complaints of the militant fans if shipping ever becomes a canon.

I dislike the idea of shipping overall. Never interested me. But it's less likely to happen since it can cause an uproar from the already unsatisfiable fandom.

I like shipping and I think that making certain ships canon would ruin that feel. However, I'm honestly expecting Twilight Sparkle x Flash Sentry to happen in the pony universe and I do not want that to happen. I don't want any of the mane 6 to become romantically involved with someone, not even Pinkie who I ship too much with Cheese Sandwich. I do believe that some background ponies, such as Lyra and Bon Bon, are already romantically involved. Might be my shipping brain talking but Equestria Girls confirmed it for me.  However, they don't show it so it's not canon and that's a good thing. They should let shipping remain for the viewer to theorize on and enjoy. Do I make sense?

I clearly remember that someone already made a topic about this before. In addition, except Shining x Cadance, parents and Mr and Mrs Cake and newly Sugar Belle and Big Mac I do not think there will be any other shippings coming.

 

To be honest I am glad there wont be. Mane 6 shouldnt have relationships especially, it can totally change and destroy the show for me if they became canon.

Only Discord&Fluttershy and Starlight&Sunburst have a good chances at becoming canon before the series ends. Thats because Hasbro will not introduce love interest as it would force them to make episodes with them with mane6. Discord already has a place with 2-3 episodes per seasons. There would be no problem to conjoin his screen time with Fluttershys and ship them as more developed Cadance and Shining.

The only way any kind of ship can happen, is when they decide to end the show, and the final (which I still believe will be 10) season occurs , that is where I believe any kind of ship for the Mane 6 or any other MLP character will happen and become official.
