How does anypony love Celestia more

So it seems that general consensus is that Luna was not likely as helpful in the past as she appears now? Do you think it was her time as Nightmare Moon that brought this change or do you think that she had this in her all along and she was just too thick headed about getting attention that she hid that side of her? As in is this her natural behavior or learned behavior in your eyes?

May the Friendship be with you.

Ok, so the whole reason Princess Luna became Nightmare Moon was because she saw everypony showing her sister Princess Celestia love while she was ignored. However, if we look at what she actually does I don't get how this happened. Luna goes into pony's dreams and helps them face their nightmares. She works them through their greatest fears and troubles this way. How on earth could anyone fail to love her at equal measure if not more than her sister?

I interpret this is actual unfounded jealousy, which makes Luna all the more tragic since she was dead wrong about how people saw her. It's just that she never saw the citizens of Equestria praise her like she would her sister. I'm also curious as to how much dream-walking Luna actually did before Nightmare Moon. The comics make it appear that she learned the trick while she was Nightmare Moon, so pre-banishment Luna would not known how to do this. Reformed Luna would have kept this knowledge assuming one takes the comics as part of their personal interpretations or canon. If the comics are canon (not entering that debate ... no thank you) then Celestia would have more visibility and that would actually open the door to the natural jealousy. This does bring up another odd question that has never been answered sufficiently in the show -- what the hell did Celestia tell everypony when her sister wasn't around?

Her role at night may have been protector as the ponies were asleep, so one could say she was still helpful, just in a different way.

Luna was gone for a thousand years, ponies were having bad dreams, no pony gave a shit.

Celestia has been ruling over pones for more than a thousand years. Life was good. Praise the Sunbutt! Problem?

You copy that Princess Hurtbutt? You're unnecessary, freeloading tower dweller! Get reeeekt!

 Wow!  Talk about going a bit to the extreme.

I think Luna is loved by the ponies, just like her sister, but she never really got many opportunities to see it because she works alone at night.

It is probably true that ponies may love Celestia a bit more because she's more sociable and just easier to approach, but that's no fault of Luna's, since her work forces her to be alone.

Nevertheless, I'd like to imagine that shy ponies and creative ponies may fangirl/fanboy over her more, because shy ponies can relate to her more and creative ponies may adore her for being a princess of dreams.

(Seriously, I think Luna was just unfairly jealous, which clouded her judgement.)

Well, in defense of Luna, as mentioned earlier, it was said in the comics that Nightmare Moon is actually an entity from the moon.  It managed to take over Luna's body by feeding on her insecurities of feeling like she's her sister's shadow.

According to the comics it wasn't until she was banished to the moon that she learnt how to enter other ponies dreams.

A perfect example of comics being non-canon. :twi:
