Lory rolled her eyes and sighed.

"That's a nice reunion 'n all, but how about we move?" She rushed them.

TU: Yeah but still seeing how this cape has actually on our side because of what it dose that says that the pony behind continuing my work is likely on our side! Though having a cape like mine would highly protect you princess plus there might but another one somewhere here!

 

Just as Techno said it he got a strong sense that there was a hidden hatch in the floor that was in front of the thrones...

 

TU: Okay so my senses are apparently picking up on something that's ment to be two more capes that are like mine. I believe they are in the secret weapons cabinet I installed in front of the thrones several years ago!

 

Techno then went to the hidden hatch and he opened it with his magic to widen his eyes and gasp when he saw the two other capes inside it. The two capes were five meters long and Luna's cape was the same colour as her coat and it had a blue boarder outline that was the same colour as G1 Luna's mane and tail plus it also had her white moon symbol cutie mark on it. Celestia's cape was also in there and it was white with a yellow boarder outline plus it also had Celestia's cutie mark on it...

 

TU: Princess. I believe whoever made my cape also made capes for you and your sister and their just in here! Maybe it would be a good idea to always wear your cape princess as it's not only enjoyable because of how soft and cuddly they are but it's also good protection for you as the capes will protect you from anything that hits them!

The guards hesitated, exchanging a mix of concern and apprehension at Techno producing the additional capes. The captain by Luna's side rose a brow, skeptical about some of Techno's claims. They didn't seem to like the idea of Techno so brazenly popping open the secret stash, especially considering it was in the throne room. 

"Your highness, doesn't your sister have a secret cache of gear and equipment somewhere hidden in the throne room? Perhaps it's just me but... maybe it wouldn't be wise to raid a storage vault hidden in here... bearing that in mind." The officer suggested. 

The guard beside Lory watched on, he didn't speak much. Still the others didn't take kindly to the mad mare's presence. 

Despite the unusual situation unfolding in the hall and throne room, a team of two lunar guard mages began channeling their magic to produce a portal for Luna and her retinue of civilian's and Nightwatch officers. 

"Your grace," One of the mages bowed respectfully. "When you and your team are ready, we have your portal prepared."

It didn't take much more to clear the streets around the residential districts. The roving patrols of vigilantes and rioters forced to disband and regroup in the market square, slowly causing the massive crowd to grow even larger by the minute. 

The unicorn on the platform pacing back and forth among the hostages greeted a small team of rioting pegasi and griffons. He seemed to give them orders, prompting them to take flight towards the city hall in the back of the plaza. They landed atop the clock tower, just inside the open room containing the giant brass bell at the very top, staring intently at the center platform in the square. 

Varoyer narrowed his eyes as he watched. "Something doesn't feel right..."

"Sir," A messenger arrived from one of the scouting groups. "Just a few more groups stragglers and they'll all be contained within the market district!"

TU: Yeah I can see your cape actually has the exact same properties as my cape. Though it's actually really large for a number of reasons and one of them is that your cape can actually function as a powerful arm that you can literally pick up and even crush things with. Anyways I guess I'm ready to go princess!

Luna's cape then attached itself to the underside of her collar...

 

TU: And the cape has now attached itself to your collar princess! It's pretty much not going to come off no matter what unless you of course tell it to with your mind! Anyways the fabric that these capes are made out of is extremely soft and cuddly in texture by default but it apparently changes it's texture to something really rough towards anyone you pick up with in battle! Plus I remember that you could even control the temperature on these capes from the original design blueprints like you could make them really warm or really cool plus by default they are ment to keep their temperature just right. Plus even though they are massive they still aren't meant to weigh you down when it comes to flight so when you fly they actually levitate with their magic so they basically fly with you in a way!

"I will Napoxal, don't you worry. I suppose that's all I needed from you, you are released." Elias said, allowing Napoxal to disappear again. "Well turns out I didn't need that trap box." He called out to Ozzie. "Now all that's left is to gain some information from this Cabal fellow. You should probably get some of that enchanted water in case he doesn't want to talk, demons do hate that stuff." Elias said preparing to summon the other demon.

While Ozzie was off getting the water Elias traveled through the portal again into the safe house. He rummaged around the numerous piles strune about the place, looking for something. "Here you are" he said, grabbing a brass spike about a foot long with symbols etched into its surface, a mystic grounding rod. 

(Ooc: a mystic grounding rod when drove into the ground renders the target unable to use their magic, it draws the magic in and harmlessly releases it into the ground. But once the rod is deactivated or destroyed the target can use magic normally.)

The captain gave Techno a suspicious look. It was clear the officer did not trust the capes, nor did he trust Techno. The sudden appearance of such artifacts and their unconfirmed origin was enough to cause any number of alarm bells to start ringing in the paranoid pony's head. Still, there was nothing he could to about it, Luna had made her decision and excepted the equipment. 

The mages stood ready with the portal open, ushering Techno, Lory, the captain, and of course Princess Luna in politely. 

Like stepping through a doorway, the group arrived at the top of one of the taller buildings in the market district, only a single street behind the plaza. It had an excellent view of the large square in the center of the district, the raised wooden platform in the center clear for all to see. There had to be thousands surrounding the auction platform with the thirteen hostages atop it. 

The roof was acting as the Nightwatch's command center at the moment. Legion and his command team were busy issuing orders when Luna arrived just behind them. 

Varoyer turned around as he stood next to Legion, almost jumping in surprise as he bowed to Luna. "Your grace! What are you doing here!? I... I don't think it's prudent at this time for you to be this close to the riots..."

Maul shook his head no with an apologetic look across his face. "Sorry..."

For a moment he scratched his neck trying to think of something to say. Back when they were young, he was always the 'tough' one, actively trying to get into trouble by picking fights. He was bigger then too, but from the looks of it the pegasus hadn't really gotten much bigger since, though still respectable in size. 

"I don't want to start rumors or anything but... usually when someone 'can't' tell you something, it's because they know they've done something wrong." He stated, looking Star squarely in the eyes. "Maybe... maybe she was somehow responsible for what happened to your parents? Then she felt guilty so... she took you in..."

Ozzie was standing with the water back on the other side of the portal, peering in at Elias. "What makes you think anything that demon said was true? He's lying, clearly!" 

It was clear the spirit was, for some reason, angry. He didn't like being played with, nor did he like beating around the bush when it came to frank discussions. None of those word games, just honest and straightforward. 

"Obviously this all didn't start just because of mortals,  you know that, right? And how do you know this 'Cabal', is even real? For all you know he could just be tricking you into summoning a shaggoth or something!" Ozzie grumbled.

"You're not supposed to be here." He said bluntly, wings slightly flared in annoyance. The roar of the crowd seemed to fade into the background when he glared at the group.

"Varoyer, tell the mages to deploy the teargas spells now. That's an order, this has gone on long enough."

"Demons will never pass up a chance to get rid of competition. If he hates this doe as much as I got the impression of, then at least anything he said relating to her can be reliably considered true. As to what's in the crate, we can't be sure. Guess we'll go by blind luck, like always."

The mare felt a bit of vertigo once they stepped through the portal. Took a few seconds for her to realize they had arrived at a completely different location in the blink of an eye. In a state not too different from seasickness, she shook her head in order to come back to her senses and then met eyes with Legion once again.

"Whoa there~ Calm down, Lieutenant. We're here to help." Lory gleefully responded, taking a few steps forward. "Don't worry about the Princess. With us on stage, the real show is about to start." She stated, taking a quick look at the mob below them. Whistling in amazement, she backed up a little and brought a hoof to her forehead, mimicking a soldier's salutation.

"Just lemme know whose skull to bash, cap!" As she awaited orders.

TU: Yeah the riots are just down there somewhere princess but still I recommend you stay right inside us so your always under protection! Plus in the past I have managed to catch knives or other sharp wepons that are thrown at high speed. I naturally catch them with my magic and it's something that sort of requires you to slow down time in your mind to do!

Varoyer nodded, moving to speak with one of their messengers. But... it was too late. 

The bell across the plaza began to chime, slowly it began to tole... once... twice... The unicorn on the platform below looked up briefly at the assembled group upon the rooftops.  He smirked victoriously, smugly as they stood there powerless, while the ritual began. He drew a simple but sharpened kitchen knife, and ran in front of all thirteen of the hostages on stage in lightning speed. No one in the crowd appeared to see it coming, gasping in horror at what they had witnessed. 

The ponies at the bell tower continued to chime the bell, until it told thirteen times. 

Across the entire city a tremor rippled, shaking buildings and sending most tumbling to the ground on unsteady legs. Windows shattered, and anything not nailed down toppled over. Suddenly, an eerie green light erupted under the crowd, encompassing the entire market square and a few streets just beyond. The runes and marks secretly etched on the stone grew brighter and brighter, but there was nothing the crowd nor the onlookers could do to stifle the ritual. 

The light became blinding, all they could hear were the horrified screams of all those caught within. It was deafening until gradually, the screaming faded into nothingness. The blinding green light faded into no nothingness soon after. The thousands that had been corralled into the square by the guard, along with some of the guard units themselves, were completely gone. Vanished.

"Well, I mean..." Ozzie scratched his head for a moment at Elias' response. "Of course they would, I suppose." 

That was about as close to admitting anyone else was right Ozzie ever came to. As they made their preparations, a tremor shook the city. It's violent nature caused Ozzie to tumble over, almost breaking his bottle of special water.

Maul was about to reply when the tremor hit, shaking the windows and causing some of the statues and trinkets along the walls and stands to fall onto the ground and shatter. Some of the guards rushing about the halls fell over unprepared. They hadn't been expecting it. 

Maul had a good footing, spreading his legs out for stability until it stopped. "Gah! What in Celestia's name was that!?"

Luna's eyes widened in horror. "No..."  She spread her wings out and flew down to the empty square, not caring about the others reaction.She hovered above the ground, looking around.

 

StarSnow turned and ran towards the throne room when the quake hit. She didn't fall because she summoned wind and surrounded her hooves so that she was unaffected by the shaking.
