Whirlwindmark 41 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 (edited) 4chan is full of bs. The budget for the movie was not $65 million. 27 to 30 I can believe, but not $65 million. 1. If they did have that kind of budget you think Lionsgate would promote the hell out of this. 2. If they did have that kind of money, don't you think they would have used it to hire bigger names for the new characters(Emily Blunt is the biggest name here, and even she is not that big) If they had $65 million to spend, ya think they would go for Jamie Foxx for Capper and Octavia Spencer for Queen Novo and JK Simmons for the Storm King(hey he did Rock Dog, and this movie is far superior to that garbage) 3. If this film did cost that much, wouldn't they have released it in more theaters(I'm talking 3,000+) 4. Wouldn't they make the film longer or add more? 4chan is known for leaking things, but this time, I think they were just screwing with people. Babyyoshi309 1,829 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 Emily Blunt, Sia, Micheal Pena. The big name actors were probably most of the budget. And why would they spend a ton of money to promote it? They only wanted to promote it to bronies and little girls. So why spend money advertising to people who will not see the movie?
Crystal Peppermint 1,108 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 65 million is a realistic budget. Animations takes a lot of work, plus the voice actors. It's more fascinating that mlp had a larger budget than deadpool with 58 million.
PinkiePie97 913 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 (edited) Yeah, I don't buy it either. When 4chan posted that budget, they also posted a soundtrack listing, but not only did they have the wrong number of tracks, only one was actually a title from the soundtrack (Off to See the World), and I'm guessing they only got that one right because we already knew about that one. n1029 227 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 I've heard reports of a budget as low as $5 million. I don't know if we're ever going to be able to know what the actual number is.
Sly 236 October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 Still, I think it costed quite a bit. Those voice actors, are not really cheap you know, especially Emily Blunt who had most recorded lines for the Movie than any of the other ones and it's the most paid of those actors. I think that at least 30 millions are a a good guess.
Drunkfrank 1,125 October 20, 2017 Share October 20, 2017 Hasbro would not have promoted the movie so little and would not have only played the movie in 2,500 theaters if it costed that much, it would be 3,500-4k like other movies 15-30M is the most realistic number.

Hope you are right. The show will more likely continue if Hasbro has too spend less money on it. If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Applejack1989 35 October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 That 4chan leak that references that figure has been proven completely wrong. Every song detail was off too. The movie did not cost anywhere close to $65 million to make, and that leak was discarded as a package of lies as soon as we knew what the soundtrack had on it.

Also, Hasbros earnings report may not have given the budget, considering how happy they seemed with the movies current box office "Just shy of 40 million" and how they stated the movie had a modest budget, even 30 million sounds wrong now. Most industry insiders are saying estimating that the film had a budget between $5 to $8 million, based on budgets for films with similar styles as well as accounting for the work being done primarily in-house at Hasbro to reduce costs. I'm willing to actually go higher then this because of voice talent. But I seriously don't think that it got over maybe 10-15 million. 65 Million? Don't make me laugh... And while Hasbro does not have to tell us the budget we can look at there reaction to the box office to tell how the movie is doing. The answer is they are very happy. By the time its out of theaters Its most likely going to be in the 50 Million Range. And the Golden Rule is that a movie has produced good returns at 3 times its budget. In short. The movie most likely has already made three times its budget.
