A question of future dates.

Earlier I saw something about generation 5, does that mean Friendship is Magic will end? I would be sad if that were the case.

They say It won't happen until at least 2020.

The talk seems to be that there will be 1 more movie & 2 more seasons but that S9 will be the end. Most shows seem to last 5-10 years & it's getting to be time. Talk is that G5 will be a reboot as TV Y7-FV & be skewed a bit older.

I am a little bit sad that the show will end soon, but I'm also happy that most of the characters are expected to be out of the way after 8 seasons, even though there will be 9.

All things have to end eventually. And it’s better for a show to end on a good note rather than have it drag on, and on, and on, getting worse with every season. So have G4 end on a good note is fine by me.

Everything, no matter how how good it is, will be eventually become stale if dragged on. I'd rather have FiM end on a good note than :shudders:, have our favorite show becoming Fairly Odd Parents or Spongebob  . About WHEN will it end, what it's known so far is:

-FiM will end with it's 13 episode ninth season

-FiM finale may be a second film, but there's debate if they're going to cancel it in favor of only one G5 feature film

-Regardless of the above, a G5 film will come, and will open G5

-G5 show will follow-up the film

It is stated that by 2020 we have to say good bye to FiM, however, everything it's on planning stages. Such big timelapses are subject to constant change, and G5 doesn't seem to be far in development, so it's possible we may have one year or two of FiM before G5 comes. Still, it'd be wise to be mentally prepared for FiM's end, and G5's beginning, because those WILL happen

Well HOPEFULLY Hasbro uses their brains and keeps in mind that the reason they made so much more money during G4 was because it was a GOOD SHOW, with interesting characters.
