general media One more vote to save net neutrality.

Who's we? Net neutrality needs to die.

I'm sick of having internet giants like Facebook, Netflix, Google and Amazon refuse to chip in for the cost of maintaining their vast enterprises and leaving the burden on us taxpayers. Net Neutrality is their way of saving a quick buck and shelving the responsibility onto us. America's net infrastructure is lacking. Internet providers can't improve and can't expand that infrastructure, because what profits would be put towards bettering the internet experience are instead used to sustain the current one, because those that take the highest toll on internet use, the media giants, refuse to pay their way.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the money I spend on getting internet be used to give me the best experience possible, and not used to make sure myself and many others share a mediocre one.

Everyone complains about Net Neutrality being what saves them from giants like Comcast, when in fact it's what's keeping them in power. Net Neutrality creates a high ceiling of entry. The giants get to remain while smaller companies have no way to compete. They must set their prices at a certain point and offer services of an exceptional quality. Someone who doesn't want all the bells and whistles that wants to pay less for internet service won't get to subscribe to an internet company that favors their wants. There's no competitors to the likes of Comcast, and there won't be if NN stays.

Government intervention into the economy rarely works out for the best. Time to let the market sort itself out. Nothing is free and there will be winners and losers. Let the consumer be the driving force.

And everyone is panicking that the ISPs will jack up prices? No. No they won't. Your being irrational and paranoid. You know why they won't do that? Cause that will drive away customers. Look at how much of a stir this has caused. ISPs don't want to rock the boat and cut into their investments. They have shareholders to appease. One price hike with nothing of substance to return for it, and the news will spread it like wildfire. The stock will drop and the company will loose investor confidence and profit. The spotlight will be on these companies and the world will anticipate their next actions.

Plus, this is the opritunity for them to actually grow their company, by competing with another. Verizon, Comcast, Spectrum, they can now lower their prices, or offer benefits that their rivals won't. That's how an economy thrives. Through competition. Through allowing winners and losers. Keeping everyone level is how you cause stagnation.

Besides, NN has only been around since 2014. And it was fine before that.

Be smart about this. You want the internet to be free? Then stand against Net Neutrality.

Except, we actually have had some form of NN since a long time ago. Before that, AT&T had a monopoly on the industry. Also, check what our good buddies at AT&T did when NN was repealed.  http://bgr.com/2018/02/23/att-net-neutrality-wireless-plans-ugh

Give it time. This'll come back to bite  them as their customers go to a company that won't do such a thing.

It's about the whole idea that ISPs could have the power to block or favor websites, that's why people are pissed, people don't want that.

We already have that in Scotland!

IT'S A NOUCIANCE!

YOU DON'T WANT OUR INTERNET!

PLEASE VOTE FOR NET NEUTRALITY (if you are in the USA)!

Well, you all make good points, let's not forget that Ajit Pie still is repealing the thing in his own favour rather than all the things he keeps claiming.

I mean, let's be honest here, can we take a person seriously that creates a video, mocking everyone who wants to let net neutrality remain.

At this point, you cannot say with a straight face "Ajit Pie is doing this for the good of others."

After all, how else can those executives afford their yacht and second divorce if net neutrality won't be repealed?

Unless there is no competition. In my city, the only competition to Spectrum for decades was Frontier, and that has always been slow. We have Greenlight now, but only in certain areas. So if Spectrum decides to favor or throttle certain sites, or raise their prices, it's basically either switch to a slow ISP, move where I can get Greenlight, or just use my cell for internet.
