Im honestly not that saddened by G4 ending soon.

Whether a series can continue without going stale/repetitive etc. is something you can only decide on a case-by-case basis, depending on the premise of the show, the particular writing staff involved and so on. Sometimes what is needed is a rest period where there is a ten year or something gap between seasons. Right now that is the minimum that would be needed for Friendship is Magic to continue successfully. While the quality is actually still decent, there is this sense that the franchise is going round in circles at this point, retreading old ground to the point where it has become almost a parody of itself. Take the all the meta jokes about the friendship speeches and musical numbers in Forgotten Friendship for example. While they were funny, it's also a sign that the writers are desperately struggling to find new ways of spinning this material that is refreshing.

Iagree. i usually feel this way with other popular culture. Zombies and modern day fps video games are tiring people out. they need a rest, then when they are back after that  rest, i believe people would enjoy them again.

10 years between season is a tad excessive, don't you think ? Anyway, I'd agree the writers are showing struggle keeping stuff fresh...... AND HAVING THE MEANS TO DO SO, but I think such potential is getting wasted, and if the Equestria we all love continues, be it in a radical change of focus or a spinoff, the focus has to change. 

Funny about the topic was, that I'd wave FIM a goodbye with a smile seasons before thinking they would be the last, but now that word came that next season is likely to be the end, I don't feel ready . It's not that I wouldn't love a new focus, but I'm also dreading that we have to say goodbye to Equestria . A Spinoff would be good shit, new focus, same world, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to Equestria

Now, lets not get too sad!  I like to think the G4 world still exist. I like to imagine all cartoons including anime, existing in this one massive universe, like how on cartoon network bumpers, you see characters from different shows interacting with  eachother. With the power of imagination, you can chat with glimmer anytime!

You ether see the show reach its season finale or quit watching it because it would never end. The ending of the show isn't always a bad thing.

Yeah.   I bet people were sad to hear that the original flintstones or scooby doo were ending back then.

I don't see any sign of it fizzling out. I think season 7 was very good. Perhaps the best season. 8 is shaping up nicely. As I mentioned in another thread. I like the new direction the show has taken, with the mane six becoming teachers at the school of friendship. I thought that was a great way to keep things interesting and new.

Well, unless you mean fancomics, then if the comics continue, then G4 isn't really ending, just FiM. In which case I actually kinda feel the same way.

I also agree that one of the good things about G4 ending is that it lets the show staff and Hasbro try something new and allows the fandom to take the reins. I think the creative community is still going strong (with animations by Agrol and ForgaLorga, Tridashie's Friendship is Musical series, and comic artists like me), so any untold stories have the possibility of being done by us. :))

Yeah, honestly the race swaps aren't something I'm a fan of.

Except characters like Pinkie and Fluttershy just aren't interacting much with the Student Six. Whatever's going on, I just hope BOTH of them will get an episode together where they help the students' development further.

Remember, usually, anything that doesn't happen in Season 8 can always be moved forward to Season 9.
