Ok i have to admit something here...i like call of duty , ww2 era or the future era  but there is something bugging me though should the call of duty franchise this year change there rating from M to T ?

halo 5 got a t ratting and not much was changed , i mean its just the multiplayer and nothing much else besides a bit of blood you see on the screen , What do you guys think ? i just cant see it being a M rated game much anymore.

I mean in all fairness they've been using the M-rating to its advantage including dismemberment, especially they Treyarch games

Judging by what is happening to BO4, the developers most likely wanted its rating to be T for teen because of the Battle Royale aspect in it. The Battle Royale genre is normally kid friendly, so having a T rating is crucial to the developers. PUBG has it, so an M for mature would undeniable chase away some kids from this game. I'm just speculating though. If I am correct, which I could very well be, then this means COD is changing for the worse. There are probably going to dull down many aspects of BO4 and maybe even future CODs for that T rating so that more kids and their parents will buy the product.

The things that made Call of Duty so fun and addictive never contributed to the M rating, only the things that made the campaigns interesting. Considering the campaign is no longer a factor here, I see no reason to care.

Ah that might be the reason then, or at least one of the reasons. The campaign always had mature stuff in it, like strong language, strong violence, and blood and gore.

I almost forgot about the developers taking campaign out and replacing it with a battle royale mode! One reason why I already hate BO4, taking campaign out ruins it all. Trust me, I learned that because I bought BO3 on Xbox 360 where you had no campaign unless you bought the Xbox One version, and no refunds.

If it were up to the devs, they wouldnt care at all. There would be no M or T rating, just user ratings. However, bad parents who needed someone to blame incited and enacted the ESRB, which is a group of prudes who judge how violent a game is based on testing and reviewing.

The Mature rating says only a mature audience is allowed and suggested to watch or play the media in question.

Its never been. Sure Fortnite is more tame and more popular in terms of Battle Royale, but games Like PUBG also exist and have longer than Fortnite. Most battle royale games depict blood spattering from gun shot wounds, as well as visible wounds whether its simple blood drops, or complicated lacerations and scar tissue. Notice how games like Minecraft have violence. Do you ever see blood or gashes? At most the actor flashes and makes a grunt or hiss. You can totally make teen friendly battle royale games. Just look at world of tanks. However, genres depicting war or violence were never kid friendly.

Games about war and killing should never be played by kids. They usually romanticize actually happenings of the armed forces. Furthermore if the target audience are all adults, why would you wanna be a kid and hang around them or even talk to them? Thats creepy. Sure they are fun and addictive, but so are alot of E and T rated games.

You missed my point, even though you aren’t to blame since I could have worded it better.

The Battle Royale genre attracts many kids, one reason being its T rating as opposed to many other games with a M rating. It is for that reason that parents would let their kids buy a Battle Royale instead of a game with a M rating or above. That’s why having a M rating on COD Battle Royale would affect it, because nearly every other Battle Royale has a T rating. Also, having an M rating indicates more than just a game targeting a specific audience. M ratings mean that, according to the ESRB rating, "Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language". That means a T rating would be the ideal rating for a Battle Royale, since it doesn't go too mature like a M or A rating or too kid-friendly like a E or E10+ rating.

I could list more reasons why the Battle Royale genre attracts many kids and adults, but that's not even the point of my original comment or this discussion.

I disagree. If kids can handle it, then they should be able to play it.

Sure, you can argue about it romanizing war and the like, but what doesn't these days?

Can't one use the same logic to dismiss the fandom as creepy? I mean, the target audience for FIM is little kids after all.
