So, anyone here with a GoG account that can tell me how it is?

It's simple really, I've been hearing more and more about the digital distribution site GoG (which is apparently owned by CD Project Red from what I understand of it) and I want to know if anyone else here is familiar with it and if so, what your opinion of the site is. Is it any better than Steam?

Mixed bag, with its pros and cons

Definite pros, no DRM, period. It has its platform if you wanna manage your games, but it's completely optional. Good selection of retro games, modified to run on modern rigs, fair selection of indie stuff as well, not so much for AAA stuff.

Cons, no workshop style functionality for mods. Less active community, due to smaller customer size, but overall friendly anyway, as far as I've experienced.

The quantity and level of sales are about even between the two.

Personally, I try to get stuff on GoG if I can, and go with Steam if the game has a heavy modding community.

GoG is a good alternative to Steam if you are searching for games only. They have a lot of promotios as well and host a number of classics. As for the AAA, I'd consider this a plus because I despise AAA games personally :P

Anyway, whenever I find a game on Steam I think of buying, I check GoG first as they sometimes can have it cheaper. Still, as for pure gaming quality, it's about the same. The real difference is that GoG has a little narrower selection of titles than Steam and it does not have community center on itself.

But you can manage your games with it just as well as with Steam.

If you don't take into account the smaller library than steam, it's waaaaay better than steam. Better customer service, DRM free, better and more deals....
