Stupid ways you have wasted money

A few years ago I dropped 5 grand on a used Ford Fusion that was in pretty good condition for the price, only for it to get totaled a week later when I got t-boned by some exceptional individual that ran a red light. Not so much a waste of money as an unfortunate event, but it's the only thing that comes to mind atm.

A couple years ago I went into a comic shop and found a collector's edition of a game I already owned. I bought it for $80 but realized I shouldn't have spent that much money on a game I already own.

 

They wouldn't let me return it though. "Buyer's remorse isn't a good enough reason to return it" was their reason.

 

I haven't gone back to that shop. I get that they didn't want to be ripped off or something but they literally could have opened it to make sure everything was in there. Hell, it was still in the packaging they had it in.

 

I understand their logic. I still don't like it. It was a horrible waste of money that I wasn't able to get back.

Collected (and junked basically) 1:64 scale diecast cars for years, then switched to old (re: fragile smelly reduced price cuz wrecked etc) books, and finally Steam games. Idk why I bothered with the first two, the third is ehh...I love some of my games, but the rest are just in my library for no reason. I think I'm more addicted to the feeling of buying and owning things than doing stuff with them.

Amazon Prime membership. I spent way too much money buying stuff because of the supposed "2 day" shipping. The stuff was neat, but I really didn't need a lot of it.

Canceled it about a year ago, and I hardly order anything from Amazon these days.

I order things enough from Amazon that it more than justifies the cost, personally. I buy enough in a couple months to save double the subscription fee in shipping rates. I don't even care about the two day shipping so much, though it is nice. I couldn't go without it.

I bought a $1000 Cintiq tablet, and could never get it to work properly. I ended up getting fed up, selling the tablet for peanuts and getting another $1000 tablet from a different company.

And just the other day, I bought 4 pounds of frozen salmon and left it out overnight.
