Crystal Sparkle 344 May 29, 2012 Share May 29, 2012 I'm a bit conflicted about the whole change ordeal. While I like RD's (possible) new look, and Twilight's (possible) new look is just...all different kinds of hot, Maybe it'll be best is they just say the same, but I'm curious to see how they'll look. I'm so confused!!! ~I love the way Storm Spark makes love to me! No one is as manly as he is~ Twilight Sparkle is yummiest pony!!!
caesar15 231 May 29, 2012 Share May 29, 2012 (edited) A pony tail on a pony, what do they call it there, a horse tail? And why do they even have to change, why cant they be the same? Edited May 29, 2012 by caesar15
Twilight Yagami 16 May 29, 2012 Share May 29, 2012 Interesting concept. While this is a possibility I think it might be a bit early for that. If the creators were planning to age the ponies to jump more than a year at this point could mean for a shorter running serial. Since this show is geared toward young girls I doubt they could be allowed to get too much older because the older the get the harder it may become for the target audience to relate to the characters. Akemi Homura 7,680 May 31, 2012 Author Share May 31, 2012 Personally, I'm more interested in watching the Mane Six evolve as a group after an emphasis on the individual characters over the course of the second season. Seeing as how they've tackled the individuality part in season 2 (which is usually hard if it's an ensemble cast), season three could be that much better. ~Lawful Jordo~ 2,066 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 It's an interesting concept I guess, but it's probably not going to happen. I don't have a problem with RD having a ponytail, but I just really like her visual design as it is. Dreadmallon 353 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 (edited) Well of course why do you think people watch Jersey Shore? O Rly? GREEN EYES BLAAGHGHGASFDA "When did I dye my eyes green?" To be serious, though, despite them looking somewhat better and much more "attractive," I strongly dislike change and feel uncomfortable about the possibility. 83 You're missing my point. I have read it. I'm saying their ages have not changed at all from those published ages back in 2005 for Sonic Heroes. So even today, Tails is still 8, Sonic is still 16, etc. Because SEGA has not said, written or otherwise demonstrated that their ages have changed. Change in voice actors and style and personality hints towards it, but in the end, the only way for it to be made canon is for the company to actually publish it and make it public what their updated ages are. Anyway, back to this. ...Jason Griffith should've stayed Shadow's voice actor (not Sonic's)... Edited May 31, 2012 by Prince Dusk
murkyx 904 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 I'm certainly open to the idea, but I'm unsure if it will be used, at least, to a full extent. The show has shown that the characters progress and mature over time due to learning from their own actions, individualizing them more. The mane changes probably won't be used as a permanent thing, but I certainly can see the creators having them experiment with their mane styles. But I don't think a large time skip would be used between seasons. Like someone already said here, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Batbrony 16,055 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 Interesting concept, but I just don't know how I feel about it... hmmm... Honestly, I like their designs as they are, and I also don't think that realistically they're going to change. Now as far as personalities are concerned, that's a whole other issue, but only because we've already seen all of the Mane 6 grow as characters throughout the first two seasons already (i.e. RD reading a book in a later episode after "Read It and Weep"), so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all if certain aspects of their personalities have changed and matured to varying degrees. But still, always keep in mind that this is a weekly-lesson show whose target demographic is 10-12 year old girls, so don't be that surprised if any changes that are made, whether physical or personal changes, are really subtle, if not nonexistent. Bright Honor 2,677 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 I actually like they idea of the Mane 6 getting changes in their designs as long as they still contain the spirit of what each pony is supposed to be.

Silanda 24 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 Of course assumptions can be made, but that's not my point. SEGA still hasn't said anything anywhere about their ages, so in all technicality they have not aged. As opposed to MLP, where so far they have made the distinction between filly and older pony versions of all 6 of the cast :3 That's classic Sonic from Sonic Generations, who (along with with classic Tails) is stated as being from Sonic's past. Therefore, classic Sonic must be a younger version of Sonic.

Nas 2,873 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 I agree with Discord. All I think is that Sega was just modernizing their charcaters to adjust to the theme of fictional/cartoon characters were looking at their respective times. It just so happens that the charcaters have only went through one major noticeable change, and that was with the Dreamcast era (starting with Sonic Adventure). Even though it was 1998, you can see that the chacraters, in their 2d art forms all look like the same way they do today. It hasn't changed, from 1991-1998, from 1998-present, and it probably won't change for a long while, because I think charcater design in general has fully developed to the modern world. TL;DR- Classic Sonic, Tails, etc. are portrayed to act younger, but canonically, they are all the same age as their modern counterparts. Hasbro and DHX will most likely be compeltely different to that, as age distribution is actually given in the show, but we most likely won't see any age changes for now. No for a long time, I would assume. In fact, I'm starting to disagree with the idea, and just have them age very, very slowly in maturity from lessons learned, and all that other stuff; no design changes, etc. 3 My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...
False Perception 482 May 31, 2012 Share May 31, 2012 (edited) THIS. And I had a better post, but it screwed up...and I'm too lazy to type it all out...and forgive me... I think what might be cooler, would be to have one or two of them have an entire episode be focused around the character(s) altering their appearance and general attitude/outlook on life, for insecurity reasons or otherwise. The lesson can be something along the lines of 'be true to yourself, and don't allow other people to tell you who you are' or something. Alternatively, they could do something like have one or two of the mane 6 alter their styles and try it out over the course of part of the season, and have that be a sort of background thing that goes on for a while, then is resolved with said lesson. They could do a lot of things. Edited May 31, 2012 by frenzyhero Swoop said: If something does happen to go horribly wrong, please, blame Zoop. Frenzyhero: Lurking extraordinaire, brony impersonator. Comet Tail 808 June 1, 2012 Share June 1, 2012 (edited) I don't think there will be any drastic change in-between seasons. Remember, these creators are starting to realize they've made something great, and it's greatness just snuck up on them and tackled them. They never saw it coming, and it's hard even for us fans to understand it, so any change they make is extremely dangerous. Doing something as drastic as giving RD a ponytail and letting TS grow out her hair would be a bad decision for the beginning of a season. Too much of a surprise, too, there should at least be some sort of forewarning or buildup for it. Anyways, I think the long hair is out of Twilight's character. I think I can really understand her specifically better than most for some convincing but personal reasons, and changing her mane style without some big reason is really out of character for her. She has a bowl cut, she's had a bowl cut since she was a foal, as we saw in S1E23, so it's not something she'll just up and change one day without a big reason. It's kinda part of who she is, and she probably sees it the same way, too. It's also something of a routine. Like y'all were sayin' being afraid of change; she's comfortable with that style and she won't change it without a big reason. And, look at how much they changed in-between the gala and Discord's return... Change?! I'M SCARED OF CHANGE! Coins can be dangerous... especially when launched at high velocity... Though usually it's nice to have the extra money you paid back. Bu-Bu-But I like Paranoid Pinkie = I don't like new things unless I've tried them before >:| Devin wan'ts the mane 6 to be more attractive.... I feared this day.... I feared it..... Wait... Then how do you ever do anything new? I used to be kinda like that long ago. But now I'm more like; I'm gonna die one day, and I don't want to die before seeing all life has to offer. So now I'm in the Flordia Keyes on a small vacation to go scuba diving. Just went down to 60 feet for the first time yesterday, btw, sixth ocean dive ever (aside from 5 others in pools for training for certification), it's pretty flippin' awesome. I also want to climb mountains, fly an airplane, I'm even gonna apply for an astronaut selection pool once I get a Ph.D, and my entire life I'm building the most awesome resume' ever to give myself a great shot at it. Point is, can't be afraid of new things... The trick is doing new things and being safe about it. Which is only slightly relevant to the discussion... The creative team changes the characters, makes it so it's always fresh and new, but they do it cautiously and with good reason, ie, safely. Like RD discovering she likes reading, or Fluttershy trying to be more assertive, etc. ... But the bottom line is I don't see change like this as necessary to the show, as far as a permanent sense goes. ... You've just described "Iron Will", and maybe a few other episodes I can't recall off the top of my head. As for permanent change, sure, it's happened already. RD slowly became more brash, then she learned to love reading, then she's become more humble. Twilight's become less OCD and more social, and socially skilled. Pinkie Pie has also matured, she's more "in-stride", so to speak. Just compare her early in the series to her later on in the second season. Darn, I was gonna post something about the published information about their confirmed ages, but aw well. Anyways, like I previously stated, I'm all for this idea. It'd be great to see them accomplish something that many of the great cartoons out there were missing- age continuity. :/ Plus, I like the idea of seeing how they envision them grown up from this current timeline point. Especially Spike. :3 Spike's growing is related to greed. So, I dunno how that works :/ Interesting concept. It's not like the characters are little girls right now, anyways. They're more like late teens early twenties than the "target demographic" (I really don't believe this show is made for 8-year old girls... I think I'll make a thread about that.) Twilight Dash 28 June 2, 2012 Share June 2, 2012 (edited) The pacing of time is different in cartoons then in real life. It may take a weak for a new episode of M.L.P.F.I.M. come out, but the event that happens in the lastest episode may have happened 3 or 4 days after the event in the last episode. We may have to wait more then 3 months until season 3 starts, but the events in the first episode of season 3 may have happened 14 days after the events of the last episode of season two. The episodes don't even have to be written in the order of when the events in the episode happened. Winter Rap Up might have happened after Hearts Warming Eve. Also, ponies should NOT have pony tails because ponies don't look right with them. Edited June 2, 2012 by Twilight Dash "We will dismantle oppression board by board!
