Surprised nopony else is talking about this.

So article 13 pretty much threatens the creative foundations of the internet. And yes, people outside of the EU will be effected. And yes, this effects us bronies. Most likely Hasbro will not want to bother with every review, every parody, every PMV, every fan animation, every convention vlog, and most certainly not every bit of fan art. So a blanket ban would be introduced to every major content platform. This entire fandom will be clipped at the knees if this passes, and that'll be the least of the damage if it does.

So what can be done?

Well first, take the time to read up here. Knowledge is power.

And most importantly, discuss.

How I see it is that those are the worst case scenarios and extent to which the law can be applied which definitely raises some questions about how it was constructed or could it have been constructed better but I personally don't think that people should be really fearmongering about it that much.

It doesn't feel like the things people are saying will happen are entirely grounded in reality.

Though that is not to say those things couldn't happen.

My own stance is that I don't particularly care anymore

Personally, I'm not concerned just yet.

I also think people are overreacting and making a mountain out of a molehill:

Yeah, just the titles of the those videos themselves are enough - using extremes as unlikely as the above is highly indicative of overreactions. I still might suggest that some action be taken though, I'd hate for copyright laws to become stricter than they already are especially with strictness of article 13.

People need to stop being reactive and instead be more proactive, as in working on ways to get around this. One, people can get a VPN. Two, if worse comes to worse, websites can block access in the EU completely so people can get such VPN. The fandom can also make their own decentralized platform if they so wish.

Also, EU member nations can interpret the directive anyway they wish. If anything, they don't have to enforce it. Some countries are even working against it.

A little bit of a light hearted look on the ban.

On a serious note, this is what happens when you have centralized government. They become corrupt and pull shit like this.
