Some of the official ones that I see neither given discussion or fanart of, or dedicated episodes of by the official staff are CrankyTilda, The Cakes, Trufflewist, mane 6 parents, and ZephyrDash (unrequited). How do people feel about these? Could they have gotten a little more screen time and fan appreciation? Once a ship becomes official, it's like your parents finding out about your secret obsession and trying to like it to please you. Little do they know, them thinking it's cool makes it stop being cool to you. None of the ships you listed are of particularly popular characters either, and it's especially obvious why ZephyrDash is barely recognized. Zephyr isn't just a character that gets a lot of (in my opinion, undeserved) hate, people also just didn't want to take what was obvious bait. 2 Merry Wishentine from Pipp Petals! A ship is when a fan puts two characters together in a wishful thinking romance. Cranky and Matilda are a married couple. The Cakes are also a married couple. Cadence/Shining Armor, Cranky/Matilda and all the Mane 6 parents fall into this category. And something that develops and becomes canon is still a ship. Ganondorf8 11,297 February 23, 2019 Share February 23, 2019 Once the idea of shipping characters with one another took off, the fandom pretty much ran away with it whilst ignoring the canon couples. Granted, while there is nothing wrong with the canon couples, fans just can't seem to relate to them as though something about them is missing in that sense. It's also unfortunate that the show's writers aren't able to do much in this regard other than when their superiors allow the go-ahead. Fan ships will probably remain more popular, as they can be as loose as possible. I don't ship myself, as I prefer to remain on neutral ground for these sorts of things.
