Missing Character Days

Today being the first day of Spring I saw Equestria Daily was having it be Starlight Glimmer Day (I guess because Sunset is the Fall Equinox) but here on the forums nothing was done. (Understandably because the big event was more for St. Patrick's Day).

I began wondering how closely we were following the "official" pony days and it wasn't always one-to-one (i.e. Derpy's day on Jan 21 and not March 1 and the inclusion of Scootalove day).

However I went through the Calendar and noticed some major characters didn't have days for the forum like Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. I was just wondering now that "Forum Events" has been incorporated with several EC's are there plans to give more characters special days even if it's not tied to when EQD celebrates them?

Gloating aside, do character days actually matter? Isn't it better to have special events? Those pony days do become repetitive after a while. Every mook can post a fancy essay and some pictures. We can do better than EQD.

This is something that I think we EC's need to discuss at some point.

Eh, to be honest I just want to do themed trivia and/or creative activities (like Lyra/Bon Bon Spy Mission, Sunset/Spike comics, Fashion Designing etc.) for each character, which seems most appropriate on their day. Nothing really to do with sharing pictures, videos, and fan fics like EQD. That's what the fan clubs and such threads are for.

All of the mane6 will get their special day. Do not worry if your favorite hasnt yet. We just gave some breathing space between them. If they're done too often. The quality of the event will suffer as a result. I can tell you that there is a big one right around the corner though

Glad to hear that for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, but does that also include secondary characters like Starlight and the other two CMC (If you're mentioning favorites)? Or does Apple Bloom get lumped in with Cider Season?

I was thinking of having a CMC event. But we'll see. Too many things i want to do and not enough time for all

Personally, I like when we can tie characters into other elements related to their personality. I was aware EqD and Starlight Glimmer had their Equinox event but I didn’t talk to Valt about planning anything because it seemed just kinda tacked on. A good idea for an event should fit with the character instead of just have a character day because they are missing a day. Heck, right now Autumn Blaze is spearheading a Season 9 Bingo event, and that’s what I think use of characters are sometimes best as. Though we also have plans for her coming down the line.

And I'm wondering if we should even have those things in the future. We're not a new fandom. We're practically doing these things for ourselves now. So why not be bolder with the events and have fewer of them.
