CastletonSnob 3,074 October 5, 2020 Share October 5, 2020 https://screenrant.com/nintendo-argues-joy-con-drift-not-real-problem/ Quote A report from a law firm building a case against Nintendo argues that the company thinks that Joy-Con drift in the Nintendo Switch is not a real issue. Joy-Con drift has been plaguing Switch owners since the console was released. The problem affects joysticks, causing them to register directional inputs even when they aren't being touched. It affects both the main Switch console and the Switch Lite. Joy-Con drift has been a major thorn in the side of numerous Switch owners for a long time, and considering how widespread of an issue it is, many are understandably upset at Nintendo for engineering a console with such a flaw. This frustration has led to legal trouble for Nintendo on more than one occasion. Recently a French law firm even accused the company of manufacturing the issue deliberately in a planned obsolescence complaint. Nintendo is allowing players to mail in their Joy-Cons for free repairs, which would seem to contradict this argument. In fairness, though, the company only started offering repairs after the lawsuits started coming in. Goddammit, Nintendo.
Megas 27,704 October 5, 2020 Share October 5, 2020 This has been a regular thing for NoE for a while now unfortunately and actively fuck over customers over there(note how it notes the complaint is from France, Japan has already acknowledged the problem though I don't know if they actually fixed it, and NoA already offers a free repairs or replacement). Still, someone higher up needs to start whipping some asses over there

Envy 6,169 October 5, 2020 Share October 5, 2020 What, is Nintendo run by Donald Trump now? It's ridiculous. Even I have experienced joy con drift, and I don't play my Switch all of that often. Everything needs more woodwind!
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,632 October 5, 2020 Share October 5, 2020 The drift is absolutely a huge issue. My previous pair, which I bought used because of the colors, they had the problem outright and it only got worse and worse. I had to invest in a brand new pair as a result and luckily it hasn't been an issue with them. So for Nintendo to deny the joycon drift is to deny reality. They should simply acknowledge their own screw up in full and work on it.
ToastedScone 397 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 I'm MUCH too frugal to buy a new set of joycons as my Pro Controller works just fine, but it's pretty much impossible to use my Switch in handheld mode because of the drift now 𝔗𝔥𝔢𝔯𝔢'𝔰 𝔞𝔩𝔴𝔞𝔶𝔰 𝔬𝔭𝔭𝔬𝔯𝔱𝔲𝔫𝔦𝔱𝔶 𝔱𝔬 𝔡𝔬 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔣𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔩𝔶 𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔤! DixonTheAdversary 1,632 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 I don't use the joycons on my Switch, because I much prefer an actual controller, which is why I sprung for a Pro Controller. That's one of the reasons I dislike Nintendo, they haven't had a regular controller packed in with their consoles since the Gamecube. They always try and be innovative, but I find that it often backfires.
Envy 6,169 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 Just now, DixonTheAdversary said: I don't use the joycons on my Switch, because I much prefer an actual controller, which is why I sprung for a Pro Controller. But yeah, I agree. Too many gimmicks. Controllers don't need much innovation. I'm just glad that Nintendo at least made things better with the Wii U and the Switch by having solid pro controllers that function as normal controllers that do everything that needs to be done. The Wii was really bad, because you couldn't even get past the main menu of it without using the Wii remote to point at what you wanted to do. And all of the games with forced motion control like Super Mario Galaxy, Animal Crossing City Folk, etc were just really annoying. While it is annoying to have to spend a fortune on pro controllers, I'm just glad that once you do, they function as a normal controller and can do everything. I haven't played a single Wii U or Switch game that forced motion control type things on me except for minor parts of Breath of the Wild. Games that actually force it on you regularly like Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee are trashy and not worth our money anyway. 2 Everything needs more woodwind! Pentium100 2,136 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 Nintendo seems to be behaving like Apple, at least as far as I know. 1. Make a bad design. 2. When people start to have problems, deny them. 3. When there is a real danger of lawsuits or government action, admit to the problem, but say that it "only affects a tiny percentage of users". I guess Nintendo is on step 2 with this problem. Moonlight 7,287 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 my literally 3 pairs of joycons say the complete opposite, it's why i stick to pro controller when possible. do they still offer free repairs or is that only for people with warranties? i'm really not wanting to drop another $80 on a set of broken, gimmicky ass controllers matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Chadbacca 375 October 7, 2020 Share October 7, 2020 If Nintendo doesn't consider Joy-Con Drift to be a problem, then why did they apologize for it last year and would start fixing Joy-Con controllers for free? You can easily see the hypocrisy here. Speaking of Joy-Con Drift, get this: Another lawsuit is in progress and a child under the age of 11 is involved with this one. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-is-being-sued-over-switch-joy-con-drift-by-a-child/1100-6483001/?utm_source=gamefaqs&utm_medium=partner&utm_content=news_module&utm_campaign=homepage
