DPBOX 75 November 29, 2020 Share November 29, 2020 When she became queen of Equestria, did Twilight Sparkle get Celestia and Luna's powers? Does Twilight Sparkle now raise and lower the sun and moon, create the night, patrol everyone's dreams, and destroy nightmares? If so, then can Celestia and Luna still do that stuff even after retiring or did they lose their powers? If they didn't lose their powers, do they still help Twilight out? For example, do both Twilight AND Luna patrol everyone's dreams or just Twilight or just Luna? 2 Visit my Discord server to discuss and play and look at and get updates and sneak peeks of the My Little Pony video games and other stuff I'm making. Twilight Luna 31,414 November 30, 2020 Share November 30, 2020 I think the amulet allows her to raise and lower the sun and moon. As for entering other pony’s dream, I’m not sure if Luna taught her how to do that. That would seem like a lot of work for just one pony to do.
Cwanky 17,600 November 30, 2020 Share November 30, 2020 For the record, Twilight's official title, as was Celestia's, is Princess , NOT Queen.

As I recall, there was never any discussion of who if anypony would take over Luna's dream duties. I could maybe see Twilight or Starlight developing a spell to emulate Luna's dreamwalking talent (as Twilight copied Rarity's gem-finding talent back in "A Dog and Pony Show"). That and/or work in improving mental health care in Equestria.
King of Canterlot 9,603 November 30, 2020 Share November 30, 2020 No she didn't. She did however receive a device that allows for the raising and lowering of both the sun and the moon because it was infused with Celestia's and Luna's powers. The device can only appear to do that one specific function though, as it never appears to do anything more when it was seen in the show. However, it was never made certain for who would be patrolling the dream realm after Luna's retirement, as it's never addressed in the show. Also, Twilight still uses the title "Princess" rather than "Queen". RA RA RASPUTIN
Cursed-Fate 234 November 30, 2020 Share November 30, 2020 As some commented, it's quite possible that she does it all alone or with the help of starlight, or any other pony really. The medallion or I don't remember how it's named helps the raising of both moon and sun so that's a wrap for that. But the dream surveillance is harder to think about. Three situations First: she takes on all those tasks all alone, and when we saw how tired Luna or Celestia were after doing their shift, this seems impossible as she also now has a greater kingdom than ever before. Second option: Luna still does the dream surveillance as this would greatly help twilight. But she is retired. And the whole retirement idea was that she needed a break. And as I said before, that task is exhausting. So it's not likely that she does. Third option: she gets help from her friends. They do possess magic and unicorns should be able to use the amulet too, although I'm not quite sure about that, she could get help from starlight since she's like, pretty good at magic to check on ponies dreams. I don't know how that works put I'll just assume it's something they can learn. But even with that, twilight is an alicorn, she'll last for millenias, her friends, well, as sad as it is, they don't have the same longevity. So yeah, this option is sorta wack too. So in conclusion, errrrrrrr, no idea, my reflections led to no where and I couldn't think of any other options. So who knows? Maybe she's as strong as two alicorns and she can get on with both shifts without breaking a sweat p

In theory, if one of them could develop a spell to copy Luna's dream powers, it should be possible to document it so that any sufficiently skilled unicorn could learn it. Which would have the added bonus of making it possible to recruit dedicated ponies for dream duty - ideally with some background in psychotherapy.
Denim&Venöm 19,209 November 30, 2020 Share November 30, 2020 I don't think so. Think about it. The sun and the moon are Celestia and Luna's cutie marks. Their life's purpose. Their passion. It resonates with them on a spiritual level. Raising the sun and moon are their special talents. Not politics, diplomacy, leadership and nation building. Those are the duties they passed onto Twilight. Governing Equestria was an occupation. Governing the cosmos is a hobby.
DPBOX 75 November 30, 2020 Author Share November 30, 2020 @Denim&Venöm, so do you think Luna still does dream surveillance? Is dream surveillance a hobby just like how raising the sun and moon is a hobby? Everyone else, I think I saw Twilight referred to as queen in official sources, but I think other official sources still refer to her as princess, so I think whether she's a queen or a princess is ambiguous. I like to refer to her as a queen because, unlike Celestia and Luna, who ruled Equestria together, Twilight rules alone. Also, she became a princess and had a coronation in Season 3. She had a second coronation in Season 9. I like to refer to the second coronation as promoting from princess to queen. A duty her sleeping subjects can appreciate. And a good excuse to make some nightmares if she isn't still respected. As for the princess/ queen debate. I'm going for the notion that they were queens all along, as Lauren Faust intended, since their duties and how Equestria functions is more akin to a queen and kingdom, at least initially. From the looks of it, Luna is still not getting the amount of appreciation even with the dreamguarding stuff. So she must have had it pre-banishment too given how it didn't make the ponies equally appreciate her as Celestia there. And the fact it makes it even more awkward if she did got it after NMM due to she didn't get to do it for much long before the writers made her stop. 13 hours ago, Denim&Venöm said: I don't think so. Heck, Celestia literally raised the moon longer than Luna due to the lost 1000 years thing. Its bad enough Luna didn't get to rule for much long, but making her give up whats her Cutie Mark representing would make it even more worse. Rafa Stary 3,293 June 17, 2024 Share June 17, 2024 I don't think she got any of their powers, for example, let's remember that raising the sun and the moon isn't something restricted to Celestia and Luna or the amulet, as seen in the story in Hearth's Warming Eve, regular unicorns can do that, as far as I know it was just needed a lot of them to do that, so Twilight had to do it, she would then need to use her power + the power of some other unicorns, or maybe she got strong enough to do it alone, we'll never know. As for Luna's dream thing, I believe that was a ability unique to Luna, I don't think Twilight could learn how to do it, I think maybe going through people's dreams just became unnecessary "Stand quiet like the Sky, and Move faster than Lightning" Follower of the ultimate power, spirit, divine dreams and wishes of the Heavenly Eastern Angels of Stars (Starys), Husband of Mary, The Eastern Stary.
