@Kujamih

I found the relevant fragment of my post:

You leave the castle. Not long after you leave the area overlooked by the Castle Guards, you see a cloaked figure looking at you from around a corner, making a hoof motion for you to come closer.

So it was still pretty close to the castle, not in that shady part of the town.

@Samurai Equine No problem, I'm pretty busy lately, so I think I'm delaying this more than any of you.

hey ponies, sorry it's been so long :( looking to reawaken Mango in her RPs, but not sure if she's missed too much. Have written up my silly summary to get back into it :P and will awaken the mysterious, quiet orange mare if @PawelSthinks that would work

First quest is cake!

Dr Professor Ocean Clue Dream wishes to know the purpose of this... cake, if that is its real name.

We have answered the questions of who was last seen with cake (maid - Duster Lawn) and where it was (corridor). Shouldn't be too tricky to track it down after that

With an ear flop and a tail flutter Kuya's pony sense tells informs him that he has an itchy snout.

Dr Lieutenant Professor Ocean Clue Dream demands to know which maid had the cake. Also she demotes Kuya to an Doctor Investigator Assistant of Pony Geometry due to his insistence on investigating cute tangents.

With an ear flop and a tummy rumble Kuya's pony sense tells him to commit petty theft. The Dr of many names wisely decides today is not the day for punishing pizza theft (since it is a day for investigating cake theft).

Samurai blades himself a cherry flavoured cake... to confuse his enemies.

Mango continues to impersonate her namesake. She is orange and apparently present. Nopony eats her.

Dr Private Lieutenant Professor Ocean Clue Dream the Third quests cakewards - Duster Lawn is in the north wing.

With an ear flop and a flank wiggle Kuya's pony sense tells him today is the day to commit sexual assault. The many named Doctor informs him that he is mistaken.

Dr Private Lieutenant Professor Ocean Cluenicus Broken Dream the Third investigates Duster and establishes that she is a pony. A pony who delivered her cake to Celestia's chambers. We have a last known location of the cake. The team closes in.

With an ear flop and a knee jerk Kuya's pony sense tells him today is the day to commit aggravated trespass.

Samurai slices through the castle to find his comrades. Nopony can stand in his way.

Dr Private Lieutenant Investigator Professor Ocean Cluenicus Broken Dream the Third agrees that the cake may have been misplaced prior to delivery. To the kitchens!

Mango mangoes.

The last pony who saw Cake-chan alive was Duster who placed her in custody. There were several moments when she could have been abducted before reaching the Princess or she could have been taken when in the chambers.

But who has a motive to interfere with Cake-chan?

Mango surveys the cakey crime scene. Any hastily covered up cream-splattered hoof-prints or any pony with jam on their hooves?

cake-chan was hiding in the tray all this time? Who reported the tray empty?  It was another tray that was empty.

 Duster lost it in transit.

Breakfast interlude.

Second Quest is... Flowers and Violence

Celestia: Prevent Celestia being assassinated at a flower show, with my weapons and armour. Magicians will rule out flower poisoning. Culprit could be a creature. Tip-off was dream.

To Commander Steel hooves. Any tip offs? A strange symbol on a wall, which looks like a crescent moon with a horseshoe around it. Mango tries not to look suspicious.

Equipment? Clue has light armour and horse-shoes. Samurai has samurai stuff. Mango would have a dagger and leather armour. Kuya has kuya things.

Training? No.

Mysterious figure turns out to be Shadow Dagger, a known assassin. Mango would quietly wrinkle her mangoes at it.

Samurai tries to honourably recruit the serial killer. Kuya tries to hug the blood-stained equine. Shadow Dagger gives Kuya a kiss, but her mouth is off-puttingly full of fresh kill and dripping blood. Dr Clue reluctantly tolerates the murderess, even though she hasn't seen any symbols, because she knows an associate who does. To meet the associate, turn up at midnight with no armour in the shadiest part of Canterlot. Ideally with tied hooves and big arrows pointing to your slittable necks. The associate is called Raven Cry.

Raven's cry lives in evil towers, on stab lane. In return for info, the party offer information, kudos and intimidation. Raven is not interested in such non-evil things. Kuya offers a silent Mango as an evil magical experiment. Dr Clue and Samurai upgrade their intimidation offer to imprisonment. Shadow Dagger regrets bringing them to Raven alive. "Let me give you this information and don't grass or else." she proposes.

They accept. The symbol is the Night Hooves who don't like Princess Celestia. Raven insists that her "I hate Celestia" t-shirt is an old issue, and that she is no longer a member of the Night Hooves and wasn't brewing up an assassin spell from her evil witch tower. The new leader is called the 'beetle'. The group look at the beetleinsignia around the room. "Coincidence." Raven tells them the meetings revolve. She also reveals that she has purchased a set of hoof-knives and learned to manipulate dreams.

They leave the definitely not cult leader, and make their way, retaining their friendly not-assassin, whose blood-stained mouth is full of orange feathers. Shadow Dagger eyes their remaining necks jovially.

@Kujamih OK, you didn't want to do that.

But the others kind of did, so I'm giving you a chance to clarify it.

(Also it's not around the corner, it's in a totally different part of the town.)

If you're talking about the symbol that the commander showed them all, I am not sure Samurai will be of much help.
His experience in magic is limited. Even he knows there is a world of magic far greater than what he has experienced, and he has experienced other kinds of magic besides his elemental magic.
But if you want, you can always roll for Samurai's intelligence the next time he sees the symbol. Maybe at one time he saw it before after all and he just forgot. :derp:

@Oni Musha

I was under impression you were going to the castle with Kuya:

"Well done, Mango. That was very generous of you. Clue-hakasei, I hope you got everything you needed." Samurai says before following in the same direction as Kuya, the direction that leads to the castle.

And then you mentioned going "elsewhere", which I interpreted as wanting to go with Kuya to the main square. I'm sorry if I misunderstood your intentions, I can edit my post if needed.
