resolved Words being outright banned from the forum?

For some reason "w o k e" isn't even allowed to be typed on the forum even outside of the Debate Pit. This is a very common word used to describe what someone have done in the morning, and I can't seem to see any announcements of the banning of this word nor for another Debate Pit-related one either. I understand that people may not like certain words/buzzwords being used, though it may end up having unintended consequences. I don't know whether this is intentional or not, or a bug with the code or whatever.

I was going to reply about two weeks ago in the thread "How are you feeling?" with "I w o k e up this morning not being able to start my car, which is lovely. Now I will be like an hour late for work if not more. I am feeling annoyed suffice to say", but when I pressed reply in the thread a very similar screen showed up like the one just above. And had to chance the wording which may end up sounding grammatically incorrect.

Now I am curious if other words that I do not know about have been outright banned from the forum too, and if there are going to be any announcements of certain words/buzzwords/terminology that is going to be outright banned.

@Jeric mentioned that certain words were blocked from the server, in his post in this thread (Debate Pit):

I am taking it the past tense of "waking up in the morning" means something else nowadays as well. I am sure it will be addressed.

I can confirm the same happens for me, as I just tried it in the testing forum. Seems to be a relatively new thing, as the word was (in literal reference to waking up) last used in a post just 16 days ago. I understand banning the pejorative use, but this seems to be a rather unfortunate side effect. I wonder if it's technically possible to only allow it when the word "up" comes after it – I doubt it.

Merriam Webster lists "waked" as an alternative form, so I guess you can say "you waked up late today" (as weird as it sounds to me).

There are PLENTY more that are banned. Eventually I’m going to add in a replacement word selection for some. It will unfortunately change the meaning for some, but oh well.

I banned woke simply because it’s a buzzword that is overused minimizing its effectiveness in discourse. I told you all to bring your A Games. You think that was bluster. We didn’t have debate pit for a while because of people using some rather pedestrian debate tactics. If it wasn’t abandoned by the black community when it became more popular, I’d still have it banned.

I banned or am in the process of banning grooming/groomers because it’s now seen as a conspiracy theory minded slur. Yes a slur. Like it or hate it. When large social media corporations come to that conclusion, you have to start taking it seriously.

Debate Pit isn’t ever going to be a platform to out tinfoil head others. If you don’t like it, don’t post there. People don’t like we won’t allow porn here. Too bad. MLPF has a tone we promote and it’s not one that is going to allow grooming debate.

If I could systematically require JSTOR and MLA I would. The only reason I continued to add rules is because I saw trappings of the old pit creeping in. When I see that, Santa drops off a new bag of toys for the good little boys and girls in there. Cordial is a rule requirement in DP. I’m also very aware at least one of the frequent posters in there used to revel in posted emoji and reactions just to annoy specific users. Some of you really don’t have the most loyal confidantes.

If it sounds like I’m being a little condescending, then you are as good at reading people as I am in there. I know what some are doing in debate.

We killed Debate before. We can do so again. There are some sorry discussion points that were being peddled as discourse in there.

Yeah, cry about it to the philistines that can’t elucidate, and instead practice mass media regurgitation in our one venue of political and spiritual discourse.

Eventually it will just be in Debate Pit where it’s banned and only one reaction will be available. Of course, if you need a colloquial expression, “got up” is the most used expression for being an in newly conscious and awakened state.

I wonder if we got lax since Feld0, when we had a strict requirement on content actually being well crafted in general. See, I used an adverb! Adverbs are a lazy way of conveying a message! :P

I’m not kidding either. Things were rather, specific, with how one had to compose. Not to the point of restrictions on split infinitives and adverbs, but strict.
