Cozy Glow's past?

Okay, this is something that irks me the most; Cozy Glow's official past never being shown onscreen. And the show creators never gave her any sort of backstory when she first appeared in Season 8 of MLP. Jim Miller did said that Cozy was orphaned, but there's absolutely no onscreen indication as to HOW she became an orphan, and how she was even evil to begin with. It just seems like a baseless, vague response because a villain that has absolutely no backstory whatsoever just screams cardboard material. Where was her backstory? How did they not include this?

This is one of my greatest gripes in an MLP show, G4 more specifically. I'm fine with villains being brought in and show their past backgrounds, though Cozy Glow is that one villain that has nonexistent backstory (not counting the comics unless they're canon) and it feels like an utterly wasted potential altogether. At least Queen Chrysalis has some of her past background, if not vaguely (unless you include the comics), whereas Cozy Glow simply exists to be a villain with no given explanation as to how she was even evil to begin with. I know it sounds like a rant, but unfortunately, it needed to be pointed out regarding a villain who, despite appearing in Season 8 and Season 9, has no past whatsoever. So... yeah. There's my two cents. Cozy Glow's an interesting character, just don't like when the show creators never gave her any and all backstories regarding her past life.

iirc, the leaks said she had a normal family with parents, but I assume they cut that part out likely because it didn't line up with what they wanted to do with her, but as a result they had nothing at all in the end. Man, they really didn't think things through at all

Her lack of a past has always bothered me too. I assumed she was an orphan and figured she had some kind of reason for disliking friendship and magic in a similar vein to Tempest Shadow. Alas that's only headcannon so I don't know what the true reasons behind her schemes were.

Jim Miller's assertion is compelling, though not definitive since Cozy's orphan status has never been confirmed in-universe. If Cozy Glow is, in fact, an orphan, and has no guardian(s), and still a minor child, then she is, de facto, a Ward of the State. To me that makes her original punishment of imprisonment in Tartarus highly irresponsible. (By the way, who tends to the prisoners in Tartarus? Have we ever seen any jailers other than Cerberus?) Also, Cozy's cell (cage, really) was right next to Tirek; who thought that that was a good idea?
