In my daycare we had these read along computer games where you would have to click an object to continue or something? Green Eggs and Ham was a popular one, as was some underwater one. Basically like the original Dora the Explorer where she waited for you to click on stuff.

 

A cooler answer could be Diablo 2, but I'd argue I wasn't really playing it, and never did for any extended period.

The original Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64 at a family friend's house with other kids. I think the first game I played by myself was Spongebob Squarepants: Operation Krabby Patty for the PC.

We had a Sega Genesis when we were growing up. It was either Sonic 2 or Mortal Kombat 2(we had Sonic 2 first but I distinctly remember being more into MK)

Animal Crossing on GameCube. Pretty good first game. Although I was 4 at the time, so it was a very reading heavy game for a 4 year old who was just learning how to read at all. Ended up having to have my parents help me with a lot of the stuff.

Forget all that, as for Sega Genesis, Sosnok The Gohegdeh 2, and as for PC gaming, let's start the story with Wolfenstein 3d. Those are two suitably epic year zeros.

If we're talking video games, it would be Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt way back in 1990.

If computer games are also included, it would be a variety of games for the Acornsoft Family Computer back in the mid 1980s. I can't remember which of those games I played first as remembering things from when I was only four years old in the 1980s is very difficult.

I assume this is in reference to video games as opposed to board games. As far as video games are concerned, my first were Super Metroid and Soldiers of Fortune for SuperNES.
