Don't try and force it on him. Just ignore him about it. I have a friend like this and he made fun of me for about a month, then gave up. Don't fall into his embarrassing remarks or he'll just tease you more.

You could try to tell them you'd never bring up ponies around them if they'll stop giving you a hard time for it. If you can't even hold completely different discussions with them without them irrelevantly and antagonisticly bringing up your interest in ponies, though, it's probably for the best to no longer be in contact with them. They aren't worthwhile friends if they can't even respect who you are.

My older brother doesn't care too much, but does tease a little about the show.

 

Last night on Facebook we got into a big huge debate sorta thing about some small religious point, and we were being all

They might throw the 96.9% unmarried at you, and if they do, don't forget that 91.9% of the non-brony group was unmarried, too. So it's not because most bronies are single, it's because most people who took the survey are single.

 

 

In other words, the whole "gay" thing is provably wrong. And check out some of the brony public figures.

Three rules of mine for dealing with these haters.

 

1. "Love and Tolerate" aren't real rules in the show, so you don't necessarily have to follow it to the letter. The biggest examples are the episodes Gryffon the Brush Off and Boast Busters. There will be people who make fun of you and hate you for who you are and what you like, thinking of themselves better, but these episodes show that if you stand up for who you are, you will attract friends who think the same, and they will stand up with you, while the haters will have nothing to grasp at but insults, and either will end up dropping the subject or respecting you better because of it.

 

2. While "Love and Tolerate" is false, respect is still to be upheld, and anger kept to a minimum. If haters see how happy you are with the show, and yet you don't get too defensive about the subject when it's brought up, it encourages curiosity on their part. Making them far more open. If you respect their opinion as well, then arguments will be short and not as heated.

 

3. These friends of yours are in the pre-teen-teenage stage, where immaturity runs rampant. It will be common for them to tease and prod you just because they're natural jerks. Most haters are in this age range. Older people tend to have a more steady mind about it, and determine their position as liking or hating ponies, and leave it at that. Patience and even ignorance are key things to focus on, because they might just not listen because it get's a reaction from you.

If they won't continue to be your friends because of something stupid like this, din't be their friends. If your friends won't talk to you because of an interest of yours, don't talk to them. People don't seem to realize that this is a TV show we're talking about, not some cult or something.
