My reaction to Howard stern's attack on Bronies

I dunno why I listened to it all. So much hatred hurts... It's simply hate trying to be shared. No empathy and this is a perfect example of the manipulative powers of the media. Im sure everyone who was incorporated into the making of this piece of audio (and its original video) SAW the goodness MLP has brought to so many people. They choose to neglect it because they are so used to their own lifestyle there is really no changing their outlook- to be empathetic to them i'll at least give them that they went through somethign similar back in their day. Teenager from the 60s and young adult in the 70s he and his peers changed the outlook of society completely with  the whole anti cold ward movements, and promoting the importance of a highly active sexual life, rock and roll music, and openly displaying profanity and obscenities. If you were into any of that you were treated like a worthless parasite of society. Many parents were dissapointed that their children grew up into rockstar wannabes and pot heads. 

 

It's similar what is going on with MLP fandom. Except MLP does not promote any hindering behaviour so 1 points more for MLP. ) All and all though, I hope this whole MLP or any future changes may help bring further good to all people. 

 

And well it's sad that they had to expose those brony's sexualities infront of millions of people. Maybe their sexual views are unorthodox and very controversial. But it's no one's call to point it out and completely use their EXTREMELY PERSONAL views and use that against you. There's no honour being a clopper, but if you have to point it out and expose someone to so much hatred and controversy, you are no better- infact you're worse.

Well he just picked the "worst" interviews (from the sight of people outside the whole mlp stuff) and played them. Nothing bad or upsetting.

What made me hate this guy to a point where I just want to see him suicide because of depressions, is the part with the "depressive brony".
Not only he interviewed a guy that has depressions (doesn't have to be true but the guy said it himself) and played it live on air, no he takes it even further and laughs at that guy. What kind of sick mind does things like that?!
Attention, I'm just making a reference to his show.

What if the guy really is depressive, heard the show and did suicide...

Yeah sure they're bashing bronies and stuff but that's their problem. Someone elses stupid views shouldn't effect a fandoms...fandom...O.o

The show goes on, there will always be cloppers, people will always be annoying and hateful, but that's the way things go...sure its annoying and stupid but just ignore it.

MLP is a show that we all happen to like, is it other peoples business in what way we may or may not like it? No.

I find this critique and others funny to read/listen to, because it basically sum up how I felt about all this before I watched it =)

So I'm able to laugh WITH him seeing myself as I was before. I don't have a problem with this guy, as he is doing this for reactions and popularity. Bad reasons indeed, but there is a bigger problem I'm thinking about, concerning all the hate. I'm 22 and through the show have learned that all should be respected, no matter their interest. This includes cloppers, furries and "worse", but i'm not going to go into that. What worries me is that so many people, much older than me, still hasn't grasped this concept. So I feel lucky listening to this, and i'm really not that bothered

I mean, come on, what else would you expect from Howard Stern?  Howard, Don Imus, and other shock jocks of that sort exist only to stir the pot and create radio ratings.  Of COURSE they're going to pick and choose the most unflattering sound bites to "expose" Bronies as an unsavory subculture.  TBH, I found it mildly amusing because it was so predictable.  I just hope Howard is fair and reveals all the Rule 34 and slash in the Transformers fandom as well.

Howard Stern is a funny guy. I don't listen to his show but I've seen various interviews and segments from his show and they're usually entertaining. That's what he's about; entertainment. Take what he says with a grain of salt. He's an asshole who gets paid to make people laugh. Take that for what it is.

Meh, like I give a buck what he had to say about us. First of all, when it comes to shock jocks, Jason Ellis on Sirius radio is WAY funnier. He's obviously misinformed, and just being a dick for the sake of being a dick.

 

But on the other hoof...

 

That IS his job. And admittedly, some of his stuff is pretty damn hilarious. If you've never heard him and his guys prank call the C-SPAN open phone line, YouTube it, cause it's hysterical. But the fact is, it's his job to fuck with people. It only makes sense that he'd poke fun at a HUGELY popular fandom. It garners ratings, positive AND negative. And ratings are ratings. It's all about getting attention. It's like those Westboro Baptist Church lunatics that picket military funerals with signs like "Thank God for Dead Soldiers." It's all about gaining attention. The less you care about it, the less of an impact it has. That simple.

 

I'm not tremendously butthurt about it. It bothers me about as much as any other brony hate media out there. The day I let a tv show that I like determine my masculinity and dignity is a sad, sad day.

 

Honestly, I hope he sends someone to Bronycon this year, so I have a chance to troll the troll. My troll mode is second to none.

Here's the thing: it's Howard Stern. 99 percent of the nonsense that comes out of his mouth is just that: nonsense. What got him put on the map originally was his level of absurdity and overall twisted opinions on the different facets of human life.

 

His opinion on Bronies is just like the one given by any outsider of the Brony/Pegasister world: uninformed, misconceptualized and ignorant.

 

But at the same time, it is just that: an opinion. He's entitled to his opinion, just as much as you and I are entitled to our opinions. I will admit that maybe his assertion didn't have to be as harsh and condescending as he framed it, but it's just an opinion.

 

I look at it this way: if he's not going to respect the community, then ignore it. If he's not going to give us respect, then why should we give him the time of day?

 

We are all human, we all have the right of free will, and as a result, we can carry on with just about anything we enjoy. It may not seem normal to most people, but then again there are other things people do that we may not agree with or find "normal."

 

But that's the beauty of being human. The fact that we all do different things, which may or may not be "accepted" by society is what makes each and every one of is unique. If someone won't at least respect you for who you are, then they aren't worth your time.

Howard Stern is known for being a pervert. He had two incestual lesbian twin sisters on the show and that is typically what he reports on.

No point getting rustled over someone who basically has to sink to that level to get anyone to watch him.
