Who would be the best baby-sitter?

This has two questions to it.

 

The one episode I watch a lot of times is "Baby Cakes." I watch is so many times, because I am writing a fan-fic on the twins. So I try and find out different things about Pound and Pumpkin. Like what makes them happy, sad, how they show anger, what do they like to play with, and what do I think would make them happy. So the episode is my favorite.

 

Now their is one thing that kind of bothers me with this episode and maybe a few other things, why did Mr. and Mrs. Cake go to Fluttershy first?

 

Now let me first say, that I like Fluttershy. She is a very enjoyable charter and cute at times, but I just don't think she could handle babes that well. Now I have not done any real training when it comes to baby-sitting, but I feel like you would need a few things that would make you good at this job.

 

1. Confidences- Before even thinking about baby-sitting you need to be sure that you are confident enough to do this job. Fluttershy has shown that confidences is something she is not strong at.

 

2. Communication- This is another skill you need to have when watching babies. You need to be able to talk to the kids when they are crying in order to clam them down. Fluttershy is good at talking to animals, but as I am not sure if she could clam them down.

 

3. Handle any age- This is just the last thing I could think of. You must be able to handle any age of chilled weather the kids are 1 mouth old, 1 year old, 5 years old, you must be able to handle all ages. In the episode Stare Master, Fluttershy was barley able to handle the CMC and they only started to listen to her when she was able to handle the Cockatrice. She won't be able do that with the twins.

 

Now like I said, I like Fluttershy a lot, but I just don't think she would be able to handle babes, especially Pound and Pumpkin. WIth Pound flying around and Pumpkins magic, I don't think she could handle it. Maybe with the help of Pinkie she could pull it off.

 

Now for the next part, who would you have gone to first before asking Pinkie Pie?

 

Twilight- Twilight to me would be able to handle the twins more then the other. She has knowledge on her side and with her magic she would be able to catch Pound when he starts flying and maybe able to counter Pumpkins magic. Also, she raised a baby dragon (with help). Now we don't know if she did anything or not, but if you can handle a dragon you can handle these two.

 

Apple Jack- Apple Jack has confidences on her side and she taken care of Apple Bloom. Apple Jack is also strong and could handle Pound Cakes and maybe even catch him better. Their is one problem with her and that could be her accent. Pound and Pumpkin maybe smart, but I feel her accent would scare them a little. Also she is rash and may use force to win them over. Still I feel she could at least handle it.

 

Fluttershy- Now Fluttershy would be my third choice if I was in a hurry. Now maybe I am wrong and she could handle it. With her gentle ways maybe she could handle them. Plus the way they looked in the episode did show that they like Fluttershy and would be happy with her. Still all the things at the top would still make me think twice before letting her do the job.

 

As for Rainbow Dash and Rarity, I would not even ask them.

 

Rarity I know would not be able to handle it. She is not patient, also she does not seem like fun. Also she would not even touch a diaper.

 

As for Rainbow Dash, she only cares about herself and would only do stuff she would want to do. Also I would be afraid that she would have them in a catapult and clam she could catch them before they hit the ground.

 

So that is what I think. Who do you think could watch Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake the best? I just want to get other peoples opinion on this. Do you think I am right or wrong.

If I was a parent I would choose twilight because she's well organized, keeps to her schedule, and can control everything with her magic

I would also choose Twilight too. ^^ And if I was being baby-sat I wouldn't choose Applejack. Either Twilight, Fluttershy, or PINKIE PIE.

But Applejack has lots of confidence so I think she would let me fly around and do crazy stuff as long as she could get everything back in order before the parents came home. Also... APPLE PIE AND STOOF!

 

Actually... then again she's pretty honest... So if she promised the parents no crazy stuff she probably would be really strict... If not Applejack I would choose Fluttershy cause she could bring over the animals and STOOF!

Fluttershy would be my choice. Mostly because she's so nice and caring to others. My second choice would be Rainbow Dash, because that would be just all out fun

Does our choice have to be the mane 6? If not, then I pick Cheerilee because she's proven she can handle children. Not sure how receptive to the task she'd be considering she spends all her days with kids and would probably want a break from them when she's home. But yeah, Cheerilee.

 

If mane 6 only, then Twilight because she'll bore my foals to death so they'll go to sleep sooner with all her regimented and organized scheduling and doing everything by the book.

I'm going to go with either Fluttershy, Twilight, or Applejack. Fluttershy has the kind nature,she is always looking after animals as well so that should count as something, while Twilight has the organizational skills that would help her, and also the use of magic. Applejack has that can do attitude, and will finish the job proud and sincere.

 

If I had to pick one to babysit, I'd overall go with Twilight.

Twilight, or Applejack would be the best two choices, imo. They're the only two that I can think of that have raised living things with a higher sentience (Applebloom, Spike). They both have great organizational skills so they can keep on the babies schedule, they both have the feeling of authority to take hold of the babies if they grow out of hand hoof, and they're the two most responsible out of the Mane 6.

 

Fluttershy could be a decent choice, but she seems too timid to of been able to control the Cake Twins.

The second would go to Applejack. She already got her own share taking care of Applebloom.

 

Rarity can be rather diplomatic. Yep, she was shown several times taking care of Sweetie Belle, but her recklessness when it comes to looking after loud foals give me the doubt.

 

Twilight Sparkle or Rainbow Dash as a babysitter? Might as well throw those babies to the lake and call it a day.

Fluttershy and Applejack. Applejack is the most mature of any of them in my opinion, she's been dealing with Apple Bloom since she herself was a baby, and they have a spot-on, ideal sister relationship nowadays. Then there's Fluttershy, who, though may lack the assertiveness to say no that might be called upon, has both kindness, and tricks to help calm them down when the time calls: i.e her singing, or other tactics.

Twilight would be all science and proceed to make a checklist what kind of things should and shouldn't be done, make a double checklist, and triple check it again.

From your standards of what a good babysitter should be, I would say that though I think Twilight would be fine otherwise, she doesn't exactly fulfill the qualifications. While Twilight is good at organization she tends to get unusually disturbed and less confident when things don't go as planned, which would make the sometimes unpredictable twins a burden for her. She might have initial confidence, but it has been shown that it can crumble rather easily in-show.

 

As for communication, Twilight isn't terrible, unlike say Fluttershy, which I'd agree, but there are times that she can be too insensitive to others and that might hamper her successes.

 

I'd also have to dispute the idea that Twilight "raised" Spike. While never mentioned in the show, it was always Faust's intention that Celestia was the one that brought up and trained Spike and then assigned him to be Twilight's assistant. While Twilight certainly does act like a mother figure to Spike, it's far more likely that they see each other as brother and sister, which doesn't exactly say much for Twilight's ability to command authority over Spike.

I tend to agree with your reasoning on this. Applejack is who I usually consider the most practical and down to Earth (no pun intended). I would definitely consider her to be a strong candidate as a babysitter.

However, in this case, I chose Twilight for a few reasons. First, she may unravel when the situation gets out of hoof but she usually pulls through anyways. Second, she's quite adept at magic so is well equipped to handle a pair of problematic twins. Other than that, there is no doubt to the confidence she has as was indicated within the episode (Baby Cakes). She seemed quite sure of her ability to babysit - take what you will of that.

I do agree that Fluttershy would make for an uncertain candidate as a babysitter. I doubt I need to reiterate the reasons that have already been posted.

Yes, it is her accent that could be the problem. Now Pound and Pumpkin have shown that they are very intelligent seeing as they can walk, make noise, and even fell guilt. I just don't think they are at the right age where they are able to understand Apple Jack. It could make them mad.

I voted Applejack cause I know she'd get the job done.

She isn't gonna be a pushover like Fluttershy or Twilight would be.

She won't be as carefree as Rainbow Dash, as well.

Rarity pulls her hair out already with the CMC, or even a lone Sweetie Belle.

You'd think Pinkie would be, but looking at the Baby Cakes incident, it might not work.

 

Applejack would be more strict, yet be smart enough to still get them to have fun.

Applejack also is the most responsible of the mane 6 naturally.

Though, Applejack hasn't interacted ith younger ponies other than her own sister, so we can't know for sure.

Well in the episode, Mrs. Cake gave Pinkie Pie a very long list. The way the list looks, Mrs. Cake has already made a list that Twilight would make. Look at it. This would bring a tear to Twilight. It could be just because it was Pinkie Pie, but the way the Cakes act I see them making a long list for any of them.
