What do you love most about being a brony ?

I was proud of being one attending BABSCon that's for sure. I'm glad I found a good and meaningful show to watch.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

I'm sort of reserved about my love of MLP in real life, but I have stickers on the inside of my laptop next to the keypad. I usually cover them up with my hands.

But today, I just did something so funny and risky in my Arabic class.  :muffins:

The professor asked what we did over the weekend in Arabic and called on me, so I replied in Arabic that I watched a new episode of my favorite TV show. Then she asked what TV show was it.

I blurted out مهرتي الصغيرة which is "My Little Pony" in Arabic. My professor smiled and said "really?" But nobody else knew what مهرة (mare/filly) meant so I'm still safe.

Maybe I'll just tell people that when they ask me my favorite TV show.

While I sometimes feel nervous admitting to the fact I am a brony, I will always do it.....just not to my parents because they would never understand!

Be proud indeed! No pony should be afraid to admit that they like a certain show! This is all this is, we are all we are, just a bunch of people who are fans of a particular T.V Show and nothing more....unless ya wanna make it more1 :muffins:

I can't help but being embarrassed when I admit I watch a show aimed toward small children.

One of my friends told me when I told her "Rina watches that" Rina would be her 5-6 year old sister

But I would like to show them a dark moment in Equestria. Maybe Magic Duel or Cutiemarkless, or something :P

I did tell one of my friends and she was interested in the stuff in the end of the 4th season :)

The key to being less embarrassed is to change your perspective. Two are particularly helpful:

1. Realize that you're simply doing something you enjoy, and that it shouldn't matter at whom it is marketed or what people think of it.

2. Think of MLP as a community with ideals, that just happens to have a show. In that light we're not all that different from (the positive aspects of) hippies, for example.

Also, the Tirek battle would be a good dark moment. Or Chrysalis/Cadence stuff.

I sometimes feel awkward admitting it. I wear my mlp shirt a lot though so that helps me. A guy pointed it out at work and asked if it was a pony and I said yes! YES IT IS!!! laugh.png

Its the one where luna is looking into a pond with a reflection of herself as nightmare moon. It is a really nice shirt!

I'm not even ashamed of being a brony. In fact, most people sees no harm on being a fan of a cartoon show.

Also, the Tirek battle would be a good dark moment. Or Chrysalis/Cadence stuff.

Don't forget the S5 premiere that have some vibe of 1984 and Animal Farm in it.

I am Solid Scorpion and I am a brony.

When did this turn into AA lol. xD  "Hi, Solid Scorpion."

I wear pony shirts and pony jewelry into public.  And no one's murdered me or anything.  I use Rainbow Dash avatars just about everywhere online.  But I don't consider myself a Brony; I'm a ponylover.  And I'm only open about that, well...  Here, on Facebook, on Youtube, on FIMFiction, on deviantART, and at home (which is non-virtual). x3

I'm proud to be a brony as well. Told my parents and we made a laugh about it, they watch it too now, my lil sis is a brony now. :icwudt:

I told my friend and he called me weird. I will buy an AJ shirt to go take the summer exam, people can like it,dislike it, it's their problem not mine. As Brad Blanton (,,Radical Honesty" author) says: you will be hated on and hurt even if you live your life being nice, stepping on eggshells just to please everyone.

Well, this is quite pleasant! Yeah, it's just a show. But like Star Trek, It's a show that inspires. Star Trek made a generation of scientists and was one of the few TV shows Martin Luther King let his children watch. I wonder what this show is going to produce in us?

What's there to be proud of? It's just a TV show.

You don't hear anyone say "Be proud of being a Gravity Falls fan!" or "Be proud of being a Breaking Bad fan!" I don't see why I need to start self-victimizing because I watch MLP.

I see no reason to be proud of being a brony. You're being proud of being a fan of something that you didn't yourself create.

Now, there could be pride in the defiance of certain social norms and gender roles. That's a different story. I don't think people should confuse the issue though. Pride in someone else's creation is misplaced in most cases.

Actually it's be proud of watching cute stuff about friendship, magic, family, even when everyone else is calling you names and considers it a taboo. It's self acceptance, not worshipping a show.

I'm not ashamed of my love for MLP.

Sometimes I am ashamed to affiliated with the fandom, though.  Between its reputation for excessive R34 (maybe deserved, maybe not) and the mountains of spaghetti, it can be a little much.  Of course, I have dozens of well adjusted friends in the fandom, but this little club of ours is not exactly something I'm going to bring up at a job interview or anything.

FIM and Star Trek are more similar to each other than any other shows.  I've said this many times.  Star Trek was never about the action or sci-fi; that was just the setting and genre.  It was an inspiring, feel good show about learning what it means to be human, learning the importance of friendship/family/community, and recognizing the better parts of ourselves.  FIM, right there.

Well, ideally, yes, this would be true.  But I think you still know why this thread was made.  Closet Gravity Falls fans or closet Breaking Bad fans are not a thing.  There are still a lot of people that hate on bronies.  There's still controversy.  There are still parents that hate their teenage sons when they find out.  This is a thread to inspire us to be proud of being ourselves, often in the face of criticism and hatred.  I guess it would be inaccurate to say we're proud of liking the show, per se, but I'm damn proud to be myself and tell people I like it.

Without a doubt one of the best things that has happened to me. Being a brony has made me rethink my career choice and put me on the right path, helped foster the embers of idealism in me into a roaring fire, and make friends like I never was able to before.

I have faith in this fandom as well, if Trekkies can live for as long as they have we've at least got a shot!
