Game lore is rarely good to look at in such comparisons, as they are inevitably designed to have the PC able to win against things like dragons.

What lore do you recommend we base our dragon discussions off then?

Oh yeah, the OC discussion earlier got me thinking about making my own OC. (I'm terrible at RP'ing as Dan and it's also getting a bit boring.)

Well, at least one that has some sort of backstory and personality.

As you all probably know by now, I'm in the middle of making one right now. Normally it doesn't take anywhere near as long as it's taken me to make an OC, but I'm being a pedantic perfectionist, and I'm spending way too much of my time playing Monster Hunter to work on an OC. Perhaps I'll just throw up everything I have so far as a WIP; she's pretty much ready except for a backstory and the cutie mark image. And then I'll update it when she's finally completed. In particular, I've now just about finished few paragraphs that explain her personality.

 

But we'll have to do all this later. It's late where I am, so I need to go to sleep now. I should be back here in about eight or nine hours!

Fantasy lore in general, there are many good books with what I would consider excellent portrayals of dragons.

 

Try the Pern books, as well as the Inheritance cycle.
