Equestria forums had a bit system. If I’m remembering correctly at one point you could buy like plushies of characters from the show. Not real ones obviously just sprites of plushies they didn’t serve a purpose, they just looked nice and certain ones costed certain amounts of bits, you could gift other users ones too. And after a few times you could use bits to pay for username changes. They functioned kind of like this forums brohoof system. You could tip a certain amount of bits for posts you liked but you could also be given bits for other reasons too from mods/admins or other users.

I joined a forum with a similar convention.... people got pissed because a friend of mine (who had been there sometime) had given me so many.

Lul ok. I returned them gladly but at the same time... having high-up friends and getting what's kind of a favor isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's not bringing others down, just me relatively up.
