Pony Idols & Role-Models

Simple. Pick a Mane Six character, a secondary character, etc. and look at who you believe their idols are and why. I'll only do the three most obvious ones, in my mind.

 

Twilight Sparkle --> Princess Celestia

This is really quite a 'YA DON'T SAY?' moment. Twilight adores the Princess, and as her student, she strives to please her. She respects Celestia to the highest of levels, treating her opinion as one of the single most important things to take into consideration. She quickly falls into panic when the princess is around, and something goes wrong, as shown in the Philomena episode. In general, Twilight views the Princess as one of if not the most important pony around.

 

Rainbow Dash --> Spitfire

Now, Dash respects and looks up to the Wonderbolts as a whole, not just Spitfire specifically. However, I personally feel like Dash identifies with Spitfire as a focal point in her admiration for, and fandom of, the Wonderbolts, because Spitfire is a lot like Dash. She's an (apparent) tomboy like Dash, she's very athletic like Dash, and by the hints of it, a speed demon like Dash who loves to fly for the sake of flying. Not to mention she is the Captain, not just some regular member.

 

Scootaloo --> Rainbow Dash

She's cool, she's awesome, she's independent and she's the greatest pony ever, in Scootaloo's mind. Scootaloo is similar to Dash in many ways, again in the tomboy department. She imagines an older version of herself in Dash, an ideal older self, as well as a role-model to look up to, and, in my mind, a sort of surrogate older sister.

I think Rarity idolises the famous fashion ponies (eg, Hoity Toity & Photo Finish). While Photo Finish is in a slightly different area of fashion - photography as opposed to designing- Rarity still was bent on impressing her, and Hoity Toity too. One could argue that it's purely because she wants a boost for her business and recognition, but in my mind she looks up to them too for being so high up in the fashion industry - clearly they must be good at what they do and as a fashion-fan, Rarity probably admires that. Not the mention her cute fangirl squeal after she thought Photo Finish was interested in her. Just seems to me that it expands beyond just wanting to be recognised.

I wanted to do Derpy :

 

To me Derpy just want's to be like any other pony. She knows that she may not be as graceful as the other ponies at time's but she is going to try and prove herself to them no matter what.

 

This is why she join's in the apple bobing and she also helping Rainbow Dash out with decorations for when AJ was leaving in that Last Roundup. I think she mainly look's up to RD but i think she also look's up to each pony in a different way, and strives to be as helpful as she can be, despite the other ponies sometimes feeling awkward about letting her help. I think she look's up especially to the mane 6 as role model's and try's to learn from them the best she can.

 

Each one she look's up to for a different reason, lie loyalty and hard working, to skilful flying to amazing organization and party throwing

Sweetie Belle --- > Rarity

 

I just think its so cute how Sweetie Belle wants her talent to have something in common with what Rarity's talent is. And when Scootaloo was like "Who's the most awesome cool pony..blah blah." and Sweetie Belle is like "My sister?". And she does her best to meet Rarity halfway, like when Rarity needed to work and she wanted Sweetie to be quiet etc.
