Do people even read brutal books?

the title states most of what I have to say, but do people read and enjoy these kinds of books? I'm writing a piece myself (NOT MLP fanfiction) and reading back through it, Ive noticed its brutal, gory and ultra-violent though i can assure you, its not mindless violence. the story is about a man whose daughter was killed by a high-rise gang, the police wont give him the justice he wants, so he enforces his own (thats just a summarised summary). some parts are really detailed that I'm not sure i should say on these forums

to Mods: if this belongs anywhere else but here, please move it for me, thank you

Brutal? Books? Wha..... what? I don't even....

I'm sure I would love to read them if I ever saw one, or knew the existed.

I never really thought you could describe stuff like that with that emotional punch you get in movies.

P.S, I'm sure you can say, but keep it in spoilers, no, double spoilers.

Yes I love to read those kind of books, but not with mindless violence. It should be good written. Just because it's gory doesn't mean I will like it.

I'm a big fan of horror, so that's why I guess :P

I have never read any brutal book, but I think I'd like it. I'm a big fan of "Saw" and I really enjoyed Cupcakes, so it seems I like this kind of stories.
