So close to 100 on my hunter...

So I joined a private vanilla server, Nostralious, having a lot of fun so far, it's a little weird getting used to how everything was, but I love the sense of accomplishment and everything, and I am disappointed I never got to play it when it came out.

I gotta say, getting my ass kicked by level 5 Kobolds is something else. WoW sure has changed a lot since Vanilla.

Yep. I remember years ago, trying to solo a group quest was asking for a lot of deaths. If three enemies got a jump and you weren't a protection paladin, death was all but guaranteed. Or the bridges in Stranglethorn Vale dismounting you for running on it.

What's happened, and was that a good thing? I don't know.

Nice job.

I've been playing on this Vanilla Server lately, it's lots of fun. Grouped up with some random people for questing, and I've had more fun leveling than I ever had in retail.

I used to play WoW all the time, I'm afraid I was a little addicted to it. I will occasionally still play the free version when I have some spare time but haven't played my main account in months. Maybe someday I'll go back to it but it got a little boring for me, especially after my friend stopped playing (the two of us would quest and roleplay together, outside of that I was always a loner)

I've been playing on the VanillaGaming server, and it's crazy how unbearable some of the design choices are compared to more recent Xpacs.

I play on Nostalrius. It's fun.

Also, what design choices are you talking about?

Battlegrounds lasting days, the need to visit a class trainer to learn anything, hunters having to buy ammo, Molten Core, resistance gear, long stretches of grinding; overpriced, slow ground mounts; the only AH being in Orgrimmar, necessary rep grinding, lack of serious lore, useless raid gear drops, SUPER unbalanced PvP, etc...

It's not that classic WoW was bad by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that most of the decisions made that were new and exciting at the time just don't hold up today.

Ah, I see. I like the simplicity of vanilla. I will say I don't like how abilities work, and some gear is overpriced. I don't care for PvP, so the fact that it's unbalanced doesn't bother me personally. I agree that the game is more polished now, though. And the lack of lore doesn't bother me, either.

Also, what's wrong with Molten Core?

Did you not run Molten Core? Loads of trash, poor design, boring bosses, and other little issues, though now it's not really so bad since you can solo it easily.

I've never done Molten Core, except for soloing it on my lvl 100. I've heard it was ass, but once you got through it, it felt extremely satisfying. I dunno, though.

I only did Molten Core a few times during Wrath with about 15-20 people. It wasn't too bad... however, I tried soloing it in Mists.

It either went ok, or ended poorly. The fact he launches you in the air can put a lot of pressure on you. If you don't have healing spells, expect the fight to end badly. I think the fall damage is the biggest issue with soloing him.

@Celli: Yep, I am talking about him.

At level 100, he goes down it like 2 hits, so I never had to deal with that, unless you're talking about doing it at 60 with a big group?

This was prior to the item squish when I used to solo him to farm class gear in Mists (like late 2012-early/mid 2013). I haven't fought him yet on my second account, so I'm not sure how Molten Core is at Level 100 yet.

The only problem with MC at 100 is that the place is huge and takes a while to get around, unless you're a rogue with burst of speed. Everything goes down in 1 hit, save for Ragnaros, which is like 2 hits. I solo'd for a few weeks to get this Pally transmog set:

What does AH stand for/ mean?

It stands for Auction House. It's where players sell weapons, armour, craftable goods and others for gold. There's one in capital cities, and another in Gadgetzan and Booty Bay.

And Ironforge, Ashran, Dalaran, and I think Shattrath.

Oh, Thanks! Is the Auction House a great place to make Gold easily in the beginning? (Just looking for as much advice as possible before I start the game)
