How about their over-all roll in the roleplay? How will they contribute to the story besides the obvious "fighting and disrupting the heroes" part.

 

And adding to that, is there some kind of set-up to the battles that makes it so the bad side can actually win? I have no problem playing the dumb cliché villain and letting the heroes go if I have pretty much won the battle, but I'd like to at least have a chance at winning.
