First off, yes, this fan fic is mine, it is also on fimfiction.net I just wanted to spread it to new places, and get more reviews and suggestions and what not. I will post a chapter a day, making this longer by day.  Anyway, here is chapter 1, "I will tell her":

I shall tell her

I will tell her, the night after the morrow, the next Nightmare Night.

I was Nightmare moon, and she was the element of magic, the leader of their group.

I was so pent up in my anger, my hatred, and my jealousy towards my sister, the goddess of the sun.

She was adored by all the ponies of Equestria, what with her being in control of the sun, the princess and rightful ruler of the land. I had enough. I refused to let her raise the sun once more, bathing the land in eternal darkness, so that each and every single pony can adore MY work, what I control!

This got me a one way ticket to the moon, the celestial body I control.

I was alone there, so very alone.

I returned, with more hatred towards my sister and all the ponies of equestria than I thought possible!

Then she came.

The most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes upon.

She came, empowered with the elements of harmony, her friends’ right beside her, and stripped me of all my hatred, my jealousy, my anger, and left me bare.

I was lucky enough to have my sister forgive me and let me have control of the night once more.

She tried helping me be friends with the ponies of Ponyville last year, during the last Nightmare Night, with some good feedback; I’m no longer feared as much as I was.

This would all have not been possible if it not had been for HER.

Her, with those beautiful lavender eyes, so intelligent and eager to learn. Her dark mane, with the purple stripe I love so much. Her smile, so warm and friendly. Her name.

Twilight Sparkle.

The element of magic.

I love her.

I love her more than I love the night itself, my everlasting companion.

I want her to be mine.

I want her to always be there every time I turn.

I want her to lie in my bed with me, curled up in my embrace.

I want her to return my feelings with her own, to prove to me how she feels with one thing.

A kiss.

A kiss like no other.

I want her to be mine more than I want to be a princess, more than I want to be a goddess, and more than I want to be an immortal.

I want her to be mine.

There was a knock on Luna’s chamber door. “Princess Luna, are you alright in there? We are hearing strange noises coming from within” said the royal Canterlot guard charged with guarding her door called in.

Luna returned to reality, noticing that she was making noises out of the back of her throat that she has never made before. “Be gone! We are fine, we would have called if need be!”

Luna’s chamber was nothing special. There were bookshelves lined with books, a bed in the corner for when she’s not studying. On the exact opposite side of the room from where she was sitting at her desk was the door, and to the wall on the left is a single window. There was a simple bathroom just a few hooves away from her bed. The walls were a dark blue, darker than she would have preferred actually. The tiles in the room were near black, polished to shine, with dots of silver here and there, to give the look of a night sky right after the sun set, before all the stars have come out. She liked the room. It was a place for her to go when she was not busy with her royal duties for her to study, learn, and just relax.

Luna listened as she heard the guard trot away from her door, listening closely until she no longer heard the hoof beats against the tile floor.

“What hath become of us?” Luna asked herself.

She trotted over to her bed, sliding underneath the covers, positioning herself for maximum comfort.

She closed her eyes, and let sleep take her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She dreamed that sleep.
She doesn’t normally dream, so this took her by surprise.
In this dream, it was nightmare night, and she was strolling around PonyVille with her love by her side, enjoying games, talking, dancing to the music, all the fun stuff.
When the night was over, and it was time for twilight to return to the library, Luna walked her there. At the door, Luna decided it was the perfect time to tell twilight how she really felt.
“I love you Twilight Sparkle” Luna said looking into the face of her love.
Twilight turned her head to the side, and noticeably fought back tears. “I knew you were going to say that. I just knew it. I’m sorry princess, but I am not a fillyfooler. I’m sorry I have to tell you this way, but I’m not sure if can talk to you anymore, knowing how you feel.”
With that, Twilight ran inside, slamming the door behind her. This epidemic brought forth quite the crowd, so as Luna was crying she turned to leave only to be blocked by a mob of people laughing at her.
They yelled names at her, hurtful names. They threw rocks, twigs, anything they could find and get their hooves on.
One rock landed on Luna’s forehead, right next to her horn.
Luna could feel the magic forming inside her horn, and she could do nothing about it. She didn’t want to do anything about it.
When the magic buildup reached its peak, there was a flash of a bright white light. Luna looked around after the light subsided, looking at the remains of a burning PonyVille, a large pile of corpses around her, and when she turned to look at the hollowed out tree that was the PonyVille library, she saw nothing but a huge crater with pieces of flaming wood and books scattered about.
Luna did the only thing she could do. She ran.
She ran straight into the Everfree forest, tears burning down the sides of her cheeks. She tripped over a root sticking out of the ground and she fell face first into the ground. Except, there was no ground, she just kept falling. Falling into blackness, nothingness. She could hear the echoes of the laughter from all the ponies she killed, and she could hear one thing above all the noise. Crying.
Not just small little crying, pure heart retching sobs. And she knew the source. It was coming from her Twilight. No not hers, just Twilight. She refused her feelings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Luna bolted upright in her bed, gasping for breath, sweat drenching her coat.

The same guard from before came ramming through the door. “Princess!” he exclaimed. “Are you alright?”

The princess gained control of her breathing and looked outside and noticed the moon was 3/4th of the way along its path.

She turned to study the guard for the first time she can recall. He was slightly more muscular than the average stallion, only slightly though. He was a Pegasus, with a midnight blue coat and a black mane. His armor covered most of his body, so much so that she could not see his cutie mark. His eyes were a different story though. His irises were a bright emerald green, shining with innocence, yet hardened by his job.

Overall he was a handsome stallion, just not under the princess’s preference. Upon further inspection, she noticed he was not only the guard charged to protect the princess’s chamber, but he was also the princess’s personal guard whenever she went for a midnight flight.

“We are fine, but we thank thee for your kindness” The princess replied, giving him a warm smile as he slowly backed out of the room, closing the door behind him.

She rolled out of bed, landing on her hooves with a slight thud. She trotted over to the bathroom and went inside, closing the door behind her.

It’s a simple bathroom design, bathtub against the back wall, the sink to the right wall with a mirror cabinet above it, the toilet and the towel rack to the left wall. The walls were white, and so where the tiles that made up the floor.

She walked over to the bathtub and turned on the warm water, letting it heat up before putting in the stopper to let the bathtub fill up with water. When it was full, she slowly got in, making sure to feel every bit of the warm water against her body, and sinking in up to her neck.

She sat there like that for about 20 minutes, just thinking. Every time she thought of something, the thought of twilight would always push itself back into her mind. The thought of twilight’s mane brushing up against her body. The thought of looking into those adorable, intelligent eyes, and leaning in, having her lips meet twilight’s soft, warm lips.

NO! she thought as soon as she registered what went through her mind. “I cannot have these feelings for another mare, especially as a princess! I would become the laughing stock of Equestria!” she told herself.

She decided to stop thinking, and just finish her bath.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She got out of the tub and pulled the stopper out with her, letting the now cool water drain into the castle’s intricate system of pipes. She trotted over to the cabinet and hovered out a brush, and started working out all the knots in her mane and coat letting herself think, only to be bombarded by thoughts of Twilight again, so she decided to go blank minded for the rest of the day. When she was done brushing she trotted back out to her room, and opened her wardrobe. She pulled out her royal regalia, and put it on. She looked out the window and noticed that the sun was already up and moving.
She walked out of her room, and into the hallway. She noticed her personal guard was gone, and a new one took his place.
This one was slightly smaller, and had a much colder face, with scars running up and down his body. He had a red coat, and a brown mane. His eyes were a dull blue, also cold and heartless. His armor also covered his cutie mark, which was normal for a guard apparently. She walked down the hall to her sister’s room, and as she was about to knock, the door slammed open, and a scared looking Celestia was the one who caused it.
“What is wrong sister?” Luna asks.
“The library in Ponyville burned down.”
