Rose didn't really approve Stacy's presence, nor did she reject it. She just acknowledged it. She didn't object to Stacy brushing her hair, but neither did she really appreciate it. It just was. For the moment, Rose was tired of Stacy. She was tired of everypony. She had had enough. She was ready to get away from it all. She was going to go back into her garden, and not emerge into the rest of the world for a month, at the very least. She said nothing as Stacy crooned to her. She just said nothing. She lay there, still silently crying.

A few minutes passed and Rose was still crying. Stacy realized just how badly she hurt Rose and that her attempts to make her happy were useless. She could tell Rose didnt really want her there, but Stacy had to try something to somewhat lift her mood. But what? By this point Stacy had tears of her own. She wished Rose would talk to her, even if it was only to verbally assult her. She didnt care and frankly she deserved it. "R-rose...i really am sorry. I didnt mean any of it." Stacy paused as she looked around. "If you dont want me here...then just say so and ill leave." Stacy stopped brushing Roses hair and put her back to hers. "Im so sorry i did this to you." The last sentence was barely audible as she spoke it and more tears ran down her cheek.

Bright Spark had watched what had happened. For some reason he had not interupted what was going on to help t

either of them. Instead he gave Stacy her chance, because unlike her he never got mad over what he didnt like. Sure he may lose rose to her, but if that happened then it happened. There wasn't much he could do. Instead he just watched as he rowed.

Rose took several moments to respond, hiccuping herself into a state where she could talk. When she was able to momentarily hold back the flow of tears, she looked back at Stacy. Her tearstreaked face was wretched, miserable  "It's not just you. It's everything. I'm just ready for this trip to be over. I wanna go home!" She finished with a sob.

Stacy nodded in agreement. "I understand. We should be home soon though. We all just need to take a minute and breath...me especially." Stacy paused to let her words sink in to herself. She needed to find a way to relive her stress, but she didnt know what. She looked at Rose who face was tormented by tears. "I never want to hurt you like that again. I probably deserve some form of verbal abuse from you or from someone here for doing all the crap ive done to you. I dont even deserve to be one of your choices. But why are you still considering me? Im sure ive given you more reasons to hate me then to like me." Stacy stopped herself to calm herself down, then looked away from Rose ashamed.

Rose gasped, again trying to hold back the flow of tears. "Be- because... You've been there *hic* for me just as much as not. I know you care... And just like a flower... *sob* you have potential to grow..." 

 

That was all Rose managed to get out that was understandable. She missed her flowers, which she had just reminded herself of.

Bright Spark had slowed the raft to a near halt. not completley, but enough so nopony would notice the waves. He had done this for one reason, well more for two ponies. It wasnt so he could hear as much as it was so thye could talk without the raft tipping over.

Stacy looked back at Rose, tears flowing again. "You really think so?" Stacy looked at the small red and orange dot on the horizon. "It dosnt feel like i do. And i just blew off one of my best friends and my brother. I dont know what ls wrong with me, ive never done that to Hop before." She suddenly wished that her brother would try to talk to her again but she knew he wouldnt. Not after what she did.

Stacy looked back at Rose, tears flowing again. "You really think so?" Stacy looked at the small red and orange dot on the horizon. "It dosnt feel like i do. And i just blew off one of my best friends and my brother. I dont know what ls wrong with me, ive never done that to Hop before." She suddenly wished that her brother would try to talk to her again but she knew he wouldnt. Not after what she did.

Rose took a deep breath, and finally managed to calm herself. She followed Stacy's gaze to the island, now small in the distance, the bright glow from the lava now diminishing. With a sigh, Rose asked, "I have a friend. He might be able to give Hop a message for you. Just look towards Ponyville and call his name." She whispered Descant's name into her ear.

Stacy thought about it but she didnt want to pester Hop. "Maybe later. Its getting late, we should get some sleep." She said getting up and stretching. Stacy pecked rose on her cheek and quickly turned to go find a spot on the raft. When she found a small spot she curled up and closed her eyes falling asleep almost instantly.

Rose nodded. She hadn't noticed that the sun was already low in the sky. Today had been busy, and stressful, and maddening (literally), but try though she might, she could not get a wink of sleep. Too much had happened. Her brain was still whirring nonstop. She looked out into the ocean, and though she could just make out a large black dot silhouetted against the sun in the distance. She felt a sudden excitement, although she didn't immediately know why. Fumbling through her satchel, she pulled out a tiny telescope fashioned out of bamboo, and peered through it.

 

It was a ship!

 

Rose shouted in delight.

Bright spark was nearly falling asleep at the ores. When rose shouted, he woke up. That always seemed to wake him up, somepony just yelling out for no good reason. Seeing as how there was some sort of exitment, Bright Spark decided to get off his flannk and investigate. He went up to rose, and asked "what is it? what do ya see?"

Somber was completely asleep, his head hanging over the raft. His mane by now was soaked and some pony yelling had shocked him awake. His head jerked and the excess water splashed into some ponies...

 

"Huh? What's wrong? Why is there yelling? Sorry for the water!"

Rose hadn't meant to wake anypony. But since they were awake... "Look out there! It's a ship! And I think they see us!" She gave Spark her bamboo telescope and pointed at the dot in the distance. Maybe they would all get to go home after all. Maybe they were saved after all.

Stacy was sleeping peacfully when she was suddenly hit by a splah of cold sea water. She jumped up breathing hard from the surprise an looked around quickly and saw Sombers sopping wet mane. "Somber! Your manes all wet!" She said with a hint of annoyance. It didnt matter. It wasnt the first time today shes gotten wet. "Hey, what are you guys looking at?" She asked coming up to Spark and Rose with a curious expression.

Bright Spark took the telescope and adjusted the  view so he could see the image clearly. As rose said, it did appear to be a ship. But it also had his company logo on it.

"by celestia your right!" He saw stacy come over "Stacy look," he handed the telescope "Somepony's found us! there's a ship iver there!"

Stacy took the telescope an looked through it. "Wow, theyre pretty close. Its probably only thirty minutes out. If we all pitch in we can get to it." She said removing the telescope from her eye. "If we can use a levetiation spell to push the raft we could make it in fifteeen." She said in a excited voice.

By now the ship Moonbeam had spotted earlier had come much closer. The tiny speck on the horizon turned out to have been not just a small fishing ship, but a large carrier vessel of some kind, about the same size as their cruise ship. Moonbeam heard yelling off in the distance as the sailors pointed out their tiny raft.

 

Moonbeam saw them launch a resucue raft, which was much bigger and more stable than the one they had assembled. Four stallions paddled towards them quickly. This was it. They were saved! Moonbeam held Firecracker tight and yelled to her friends about this good news. "Everyone, look! They're coming to save us!" In a matter of minutes they would be safe.

Bright Spark could see the boat had sent out a vessel. "i say we meet them halfway guys." he got onto the ores, but started pulling in the opposite direction, sending them towards the ship that they could see. If he had seen correctly, which he had, then he knew that ship coming at them.

Rose was practically jumping around in joy. When Spark said something about meeting them halfway, she ran to the opposite side of the raft and dipped her horn in the water. She didn't even care that she was tired. Some seaweed pulled itself off the seafloor, and attached itself to the bottom of the raft, twined with the other leaves of seaweed, and made like a propeller of sorts, further accelerating their path to the ship.

Firecracker had felt Moonbeam's hug. It wasn't tight enough that his eyeballs would pop out, but it was tight. "Hey, looks like it's our lucky day! I probably didn't really would like to sit out here during the cold night..." Firecracker said relieved.  "The only thing that could go wrong if their rescue raft sunk for some reason... Or they're not really rescue ponies..." he thought. He then hugged Moonbeam back.

"What?! A ship?!?! Awesome!", Somber cried out, as he had seen Rose made a propellor system out of seaweed.

 

*Wow... Rose is really skilled with plants... I like that.*

 

Somber turned over to Star who was still sleeping. "Star, wake up! A ship's here to save us!", he said as he hugged her tightly. He was not noticing the enthusiasm in him, much unlike himself. Or the large pain in his body.

After a few more minutes of Spark rowing them towards the raft they finally met. Stacys moral rose as she collected her saddle bag and went to the side where the rescue boat was and steped on. "Come on guys, i want to get home soon." She then turned to one of the stallions. "Are you guys heading to equestria?"

"Yes ma'am." He replied kindly.

Star awoke and started crying tears of joy. "Somber, We can go home." She hugged him back and smiled when they all stepped aboard. "So...Im not good at speaking in front of everypony but...If it wasn't for all of you, I wouldn't have made it...And I just wanted to thank you all." She smiled at her friends and hugged Somber again.

Bright Spark couldnt help but feel great. Finally, he was going home! His beutiful home in ponyville! Bright Spark was NOT going to wait to sleep comfortably again. He was about to leap on when her remebered to finally regain formallity. He stood to the side. "mares first." he said, trying to be formal yet with a huge smile on his face.
