Unrequited Love, Ch. 2

Celestia was obviously fighting back tears as she fell to the ground in front of Luna.

"What do you mean the library burned down?" Luna asked, mind still a blank slate from the pact she made with herself earlier.

"Do you not understand?! Twilight is in the hospital! She might die!”

You could watch Luna's face go from neutral to pure terror as it slowly dawned on her.

Luna ran down the white hallway, with only one thing on her mind. Twilight.

She ran straight out the grand ornate door, and took to the skies.

She moved so fast she broke the sound barrier, causing black and dark blue to spread out from where she was.

She could feel the sweat drenching her coat and getting in her eyes as she flew, but she didn't care. All she cared about was making sure Twilight would live.

She flew, for 2 hours straight, to Ponyville. When she could vaguely make out all the different shops and houses, she put in all she could. She flew straight to the entrance to the hospital and cantered in, ignoring all the ponies bowing before her as she went.

The nurse was terrified. Terrified because the Princess of The Night was running up to her, shouting something unintelligible, her mane and tail in a mess and a crazed look in her eye. The nurse did the only thing she could do, so she passed out.

Luna watched as the nurse fell, unsure of what to do. A doctor rushed over and examined the nurse for a bit before deciding she would be perfectly fine and he turned to regard the princess, with a slight bow.

"WHERE ART TWILIGHT SPARKLE?" Luna boomed in her Royal Canterlot voice, causing the doctor to shrink back covering his ears.

"R-r-room 118, Princess." He told Luna, fear clearly resonating in his voice.

Luna ran up the stairs, pushing past the nurses and doctors in the way. "116... 117... 118!" Luna said as she trotted down the hallway, coming up to twilight's room.

She was not prepared for what came next.

Twilight, lying in the cheap hospital bed, with various burns and scars running up and down her body, making her look like a child’s jigsaw puzzle. I.V.'s pumping various fluids into her body. An oxygen mask over her muzzle, helping her to breath. There was a heart monitor next to her bed, showing that she was alive, but barely.

Luna sat in the chair next to Twilight's bed, tears streaming down her face and falling off her muzzle to the white tile floor below. She tore her eyes from the lying mass that is Twilight to study her surroundings. The walls were light green, with a dark green stripe that was at the top and bottom of the wall. The bed had similar blankets and pillows, the only difference in the different shade of green.

She looked down to study her body, and she immediately noticed the smell coming off her. Her normally clean and soft coat was clumped here and there by sweat, and her mane was in knots. Her bib was no-where to be found, and her crown was a part of the huge knot known as her mane.

She leaned back in the chair and looked at Twilight, not caring how she looks or smells.

She didn't know she fell asleep, she just did.

Lucky for her, she didn't dream.

She was woken awake by being slightly jostled by a doctor.

She studied the doctor before saying anything. He was below average build, with light brown eyes, a chocolate coat, and a dark brown mane. His cutie mark was that of Hermes's staff, the one with the snakes curing around a staff, normally used for E.M.T's, and he had a very nervous look on his face. Upon closer inspection, she noticed he was the same doctor from before, the one she scared.

"P-princess Luna?" The doctor asked.

"Yes?" The princess asked nicely, now that she has calmed a bit.

"T-Twilight... Twilight obviously has horrible burns; she even has s-some bad ones inside, from inhaling embers p-probably." The doctor explained. "She is a very lucky mare. Surviving what happened... she's lucky to be alive."

With that, the doctor stepped out of the room.

"Twilight.... Twilight, you’re going to live. You are going to live, and thrive, and make my sister proud, like you normally do. But most of all...,” Luna choked out, “Most of all, you’re not going to leave, not until you know how I feel."

Luna leaned back in the chair and fell asleep.

Luna awoke to Twilight moving.

"Twilight!" Luna exclaimed.

"What?! What happened?" Twilight said.

"The library burned down, remember?"

"Oh yeah... what are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be in Canterlot." Twilight asked.

"I came to make sure you’re ok... and to tell you something..." Luna said.

"What do you want to tell me?" Twilight asked with a look of curiosity in her eyes.

"I... I love you twilight." Luna admitted.

"You... you what?" Twilight asked.

"I said, that I love you twilight sparkle." Luna said.

"I heard you the first time. No Luna, I don't love you. I am no filly-fooler, I don't like mares, nor do I like you that way. Please... leave..." Twilight asked showing hint of anger in her voice.

"Twilight, I-" Luna started.

"GO!" Twilight screamed, while throwing her food dish with her magic at Luna.

Luna dodged the food, and ran out the door, to nothing.

She floated, in complete darkness, listening to the screams of Twilight coming from all directions, food hurtling towards her face from all sides.

Luna awoke with a start, quickly looking around to see everything was the way it was. Twilight was still lying there burned everywhere, the machines next to her whirring and beeping periodically.

She noticed a blanket was on her, one that she did not get herself.

"I must remember to thank that doctor later." Luna thought to herself, getting up and stretching. She walked over to the side of twilight's bed, being careful of the machines, and looked down at twilight with nothing but affection in her eyes.

The heartbeat monitor then flat lined.
