The only reason everyone thinks the world's going to end tomorrow is because of the Mayan/Aztec/whatever calender ending on that day. Those people didn't seem to realize that the Mayan/Aztec/whatever calender didn't have LEAP YEARS on it. The world SHOULD'VE ended several months ago. Their civilization collapsed before more calenders could be made, and plus, the calenders signify the end of ages, sort of as a system for keeping track of the time, similar to what we use, for example, centuries and milenia.
