Applejack's hat?

 How did Applejack get her cowboy hat? When did she get that hat,and who actually gave it to her?

 

 Is there a backstory,that would be explained in a future episode?

She recieved it from a red-haired man, who told her to give it back to him when she becomes a great pirate. She has been doing very poorly so far.

Now that I've got the One Piece reference out of my system, most of the fanon stuff that I've read says that it was a gift from one of her parents before their deaths and that's where I stand on the issue.

If that is the truth I don't particularly expect them to touch on it, although it could be something else entirely in which case I'd love to see an episode about it.

I think that Big Mac gave it to her when she came back from Manehatten or her parents gave it to her before they (supposedly) died.

I've always thought of it as her parents that she got passed down to her before they died, which is why she always always wears it .

It seems to make sense, of course she is southern cowboy like so maybe she just wanted a cowboy hat. I think I'm still going with the parents thing.

I just figured she got it at a hat store. I think that would kind of make a lame episode. Who knows, maybe there is a backstory to how she got it. But honestly, I think she just saw the hat, thought it would look good on her head, and bought it.

all southerners are born with cowboy hats on their heads. i thought this was common knowledge? the old 10 gallon is part of her cowgirl gimmick, as she wouldnt be as believable without a brimmed hat, and it makes her easier for kids to identify as "the Texas one", i guess. 

 

i support the theory that it was given to her by someone special, and she has a strong sentimental attachment to it. this attachment could also support the idea that it works as her security blanket, as she always seems to look down or insecure in fanart depicting her without it.

Season 4, Episode X: The growing settlement of Apple-loosa is holding the first Running of the Buffalo celebration (a friendly competition where buffalo and ponies compete in a marathon run across the land). Applejack and her friends just come to watch and cheer on Braeburn, but when her hat gets stuck on a buffalo's horn, she takes off after it and joins the race. Driven on by the memory of her parents, AJ finishes the race and we learn how much the hat means to her.

id like "the story of Applejacks hat" to be a subplot as part of another episode, like she loses it and enlists the CMC to help her look, at the same time telling them the heartfelt story of its origin. in the end, Granny Smith took it upon herself to have it cleaned since it was starting to smell funny.

Her Great Granny made her home-made bourbon in it. It still smells like the air of booze that filled her home when her parents were still alive so has a nostalgic aura that warms her heart and burns her nostrils.
