Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Nice conspiracy theory. Do you have some proof based on scientific facts?

No need to flame. I agree with Pinkie that science and religion are not mutually exclusive, but Rave has a point.

Homosexuality did not create AIDS. Origin of AIDS is tracked to bush meat in Africa, from there it is hypothesized to have spread to humans through bush meat consumption but how it then spread to other humans is a mystery...infected blood? Homosexual contact? It could have been either really.

I'm officially done with you.

All though he is being a little zealous on that declaration, what I believe Pinkie is trying to say science is not a means to disprove God but rather to understand what God did.

Love and tolerance, it may be a hallmark of Christianity but you have to remember Christians as they are still human, can sometimes forget to be tolerant. Sometimes we Christians can close our minds...JUST like everyone else! Love the sinner, hate the sin I always say.

Rave, love that you are pointing out issues in an arguement. Pinkie, i appreciate your tenacity (gesundheit!). Don't let misunderstanding or anger blind each other. Life is too short to be "done" with people over small things...big things, understandable time to time.

This is a really oversimplified, clunky and nonsensical statement.

I apologize on his behalf.

Religion: 1. belief in, worship of, or obedience to, a supernatural power or powers considered to be divine or to have control over destiny. ...5. something of overwhelming importance to a person.

Science: 1. The systematic study of nature and behaviour of the material and physical universe, based upon observation, measurement and experiment. 2. (v.) the knowledge so obtained, or the practice of obtaining it.

(cite. Collins English Dictionary 1980)

Science is a tool by which we understand things which are visible, and almost always, repeatable in nature.

Religion encompases philosophical paradigm, morality and the course of one's life, as well as logical philosophy on the nature of truth absolutes and purpose of the Universe.

They are not the same thing, nor do they really cross each other's borders. One asks how things work, and one asks why things are.

It is true that some facts which substantiate the Christian religion can be verified using scientific processes, and that science has confirmed Christianity in some ways. However that does not mean that they are inextricable members of the same thing. Indeed, religion(s) have predated the existence of "science" as we now know of it by several centuries.

Using them as definitions this works, however by using them as your preposition for a logical arguement does not cover other factors such as God interaction on the world. What you said was very articulate, great job! Just remember that they are not soley mutually exclusive and can be mutually inclusive. The Science from an apologists standpoint is absolutely the observations of Gods work.

As a Scientist myself (energetic chemist and forensic scientist) and a Christian I firmly believe this logical standpoint and pragmatically, as William James would describe it, the joining of old beliefs with new ideas do not need to destroy each other. Even Neil Degrasse Tyson (a hero of mine) feels that a rejoining of the two needs to occur as they are not a means of disproof of one or the other.

The Bible. Religion and Science are inseperable.

You are just messing around with us, right?  Nothing you have said the past few pages makes any kind of sense at all.

I've noticed a huge debate over Homosexuality has popped up here. I'd like to recommend we move this topic to the thread posted below. It has a video related to the topic that you can watch and we Christians/Non Christians can discuss it there like civilized people.

I'm only saying this as the point of this thread is to allow Christian bronies to get to know one another. It's meant to be a welcoming environment and not filled with debate. Moderators have threatened to lock this thread if it continues to go off topic and spur arguments. I'm politely asking we not let it go that far as that would be a sad day.

Like I said, if you wish to continue that discussion, go here: http://mlpforums.com/topic/96252-the-third-way/#entry2574023 It's a topic that needs talked about, I know. I'll even join in when I find time, but for now I ask that we keep this thread on topic and welcoming to all walks of life.

God Bless

Religion and Science ARE inseparable though. God created all. Science is actually a medium to prove God exists. It's difficult to explain, but you cannot use Science without first understanding God.

Thats the general consesus of educated christians and apologists. You can use science without understanding God. We have seen it happen. Science used with a lack of moral absolutism and conducted with moral subjectivity gave rise to eugenics, the 1943 German Sterilzation Act under Ernst Rudin, and the systematic murder of the Jewish population of Europe under Adolf Hitler, Adolf Eichman, Josef Mengele, and Heinrich Himmler. Social Darwinism and unrestrained use of technology and science can be reckless and morally corrupt.

I digress. They are seperable, but there are consequences.

Well, growing up in church myself I was taught differently. Faith will always trump science; or so the preacher(s) say. Science will never prove gods existence as God will never that to happen. If so, then one of the basic principles of Christianity (faith) will fall apart.

Granted I am on the fence now-a-days in regards to my faith, but that is beside the point.

Given Vinstar59's post about potential moderator action, I think it might be best to please stay "on topic" from now on. This is not the debate pit, if some of you would like to discuss Epistemology ( how we can or/and cannot know things basically ), I can start a thread there or something if asked.

But I would personally be devastated if this thread got locked; as I found this website because of this thread, and I've met some good friends because of this thread.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

Well it's been a seriously long while since I've been on this thread, let alone this website. I had no idea how huge this had gotten, but I'm glad I was able to stimulate such a great way for us to interact. After reading many of the recent comments, though, I have this to say: PLEASE, for the sake of others if nothing else, be courteous and stay on topic. I love being able to talk to bronies of any religion or ideology, but that can't happen if you don't have common courtesy and instead act bitter and mean. This thread is to meet Christian bronies, but that doesn't mean I don't like non-Christians or don't want to talk to them. This isn't meant to be a discussion, just a fun place to talk about God that's safe and polite. Thank you all so much!

And this right here is why I'm asking you to play nice. My Little Pony is an incredibly effective way to make friends that transcends much of the rest of the internet. Let's foster that and "speak life" as Tobymac would say!

I saw someone earlier in this thread say that there might be non-Christians reading this thread. Can I confirm that this is true?

I was born to a Catholic family, but left the church early on and have been atheist since. However, I am tolerant of other people's beliefs as long as they're not actively trying to convert me to their religion or spreading blatant misinformation. Seriously don't try either of those with me bros. So yeah. I'll probably just get out of here now...

@@Zach TheDane, Does this mean your active on this forum again then? :)  It was kind of a bummer when I signed up for this forum and then I notice the brony responsible for this thread dropped of the map long ago. :(  ( Wow... I really sound like a fanboy of some kind here :P )
