upon entering the ballroom once more Styles noticed two mares by the refreshment table. His race had made him slightly peckish so he walked over, selecting something to eat he tipped his hat to the two mares with his wing. "And how are you two ladies enjoying the party?"

 

As the new pony approached  Star took a slight step behind Rockshire.

She nodded shyly at Styles question. "I uh...Y-Ya, I am really enjoying it." She said very quietly, Taking another very small step behind Rockshire.

She noticed a punch bowl on the table and quickly started to get herself a glass, trying to give herself something to do apart from just standing there.

Star Keeper had contemplated leaving, but honestly there was no subtle way of doing it. Well, nothing else to do except try to make the most of it. Star looked around the hall, and his eyes even drifting into the dining area. There seemed to be a lone pony there. Perfect. Now I may have a chance to redeem some form of socializing.

 

Star trotted up to mare, trying his best not to seem too polite this time. He could be a bit over the top when it came to formalities. "Hello. Um... what's you're name."

 

'Real smooth.' His mind said sarcastically.

He looked up. "My name is Aarod Brachuin." He answered her question. "Again sorry for following you, but you seemed a little upset. Of course that is none of my business. Would you care to go sit down or would you rather walk and talk, I can do either or, it is up to you." He finally said. Interesting how fast her attitude changed from anger to kind. He thought to himself.

"Why don't we go sit?" she said leading Aarod to a bench and sitting down on it. She ruffled her feathers a little; she didn't know why she was but she felt like she wanted to. Maybe she was still a little upset and was trying to calm herself more. "So... I guess you wanted to talk about something?"

Peachy Pie was in the dining area just about to russel up some grub until another stallion appeared right next to her. His sudden appearance kinda surprised Peachy. "Whoa there ya startled me a little." Peachy said before turning around to see the stallion. She had to admit he looked quite handsome but, she wouldn't outright admit it. "Well, howdy-doo, it's a pleasure makin' your acquaintance Mr. uhhh..." she said she didn't know his name so she couldn't finish her sentence.

"Why don't we go sit?" she said leading Aarod to a bench and sitting down on it. She ruffled her feathers a little; she didn't know why she was but she felt like she wanted to. He sat down next her. "I actually just wanted to make sure you were fine. It's a party and you were off all alone, and no pony should be like that at a pony." He said. "And before you say nothing's wrong, you are obviously distracted. Trust me I can tell. Now I understand if you don't want to talk about what is bothering you, but it can help." He finished, waiting now to see if she would say anything. He didn't think she would, but the least he could do would be to try.

"S-Star Keeper. My names Star Keeper." He managed to get out after a couple of tries. He was always out of his depth when it came to socializing. Although he hadn't expected her to receive him so warmly. Never the less, he did his best to keep up what he had going.

"Oh mah apologies ah didn't even introduce mahself first." Peachy said a little embarrassed.  "Mah name is Peachy Pie and it's a pleasure to meet ya Mr.Star Keeper!" She said to the stallion not noticing his own nervousness. She thought it was such a fitting name for him. "Ya uhh sure look pretty handsome." She said shyly  but immediately regretted saying that. "That's not how you start a conversation you idiot." she said in her mind.

Hop felt relieved when Aarod didn't nag her about how she was feeling. He then asked about her cutiemark. "Oh, well im a...." she then heard Draco and his crude comment. "Draco! What the buck? This is not the time to start being protective." she said getting up from the bench and into his face. "I don't need you to sit here and... ugh!" she backed off Draco and stormed off in an other direction.

"Well not to be rude my friend..." Aarod started when Hop jumped up and stormed off. "Well thanks, I finally had her calmed down and everything, and now look you made her mad again. My guess is that you are a friend of her's who somehow made her mad earlier. Well  until we meet again, I am off to go and try and comfort her, oh and by the way, I'm no perv." Aarod finished, jumping off and running after Hop. "Hop, please wait up." He called after her.

Draco rolled his eyes "Lovely, running again Little Hop?" he said as he looked Little Hop. "Who said I was being protective sheesh I was joking," Draco says as he sighed. "What do you run from Little Hop are you afraid to show your emotions. So you cause heartbreak?" Draco asked loud enough for her to hear. "But fine keep running away," he shook his head as he came to the pond and took a dip into it.

Over in the Ballroom, the lavender-coated DJ's ears twitched, and, using his magic to transmit a message to North Arrow, the doorman, said, "There's a... situation... escalating on the other side of the lake. Sounds like you might want to get over there, just in case. I'll have someone take your place at the door." 

 

North nodded, understandingly, and he took flight, another guardspony, a rather shorter, grey one with a fiery red mane, took his place.

 

North flew high above the lake, keeping an eye on the three ponies Descant had warned him about, ready to swoop down and break up the situation should things get physical.

 

 

Above the lake, a spectacular aurora across the night sky was the only sign of his presence above them.

She didn't know why she was having so much trouble talking to the stallion as she's normally more social than this."Ah mean i don't blame ya not everypony can very social  so you don't need to apologize to little old me." She said managing to put a smile on her face. "So umm do ya wanna eat with me..... we don't have to talk or anything just ya know eat." she proposed.

After running through another pair of doors, Hop found herself in the Ballroom (or dancing area?) She slowed herself down to a trot, then a brisk walk, finally a stroll until she found another bench to sit on. She waited for Aarod to catch up with her, tears threatening to escape.

Aarod had chased after her the whole time saw her sit down. He calmly walked over to her and sat down next to her. "Hop, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to ask anything inappropriate if I did." He said, wanting badly to hug her, but not wanting to startle her anymore than she was. "Listen, I don't know who that pony is, and I don't know how you know each other, but it is obvious he is hurting you in some way, and I don't like it when ponies hurt my friends."

Star shuffled nervously with his hooves, his gaze almost fixed to the ground. "Right, let's go get something to eat then."

Quip sighed as Peachy Pie left him, she was fun, and quite an amazing mare. He shook his head and headed back to the edge of the water, sitting down and letting his hooves get wet. Good luck Quip, nopony likes the dangerous one

"Right lets." Peachy said grabbing a plate with her mouth. She stacked it with a daisy sandwich with a side of hay fries. "Ok ah think this will be enough fer me." she said before grabbing a plate again and moving to a nearby table complete with a small umbrella as to block out the sun if needed. "Ah'll just be sitting here then ah guess." she thought eagerly waiting for Star Keeper to sit across from her. "   Get yourself together Peachy ya just met the stallion.....no need to git all starry eyed over him." She mumbled to herself.

When he realized she was getting closer, he decided why not and wrapped one of his hooves around her. "I will always protect you." He whispered, not knowing if she could even hear him. He didn't know what might happen next, or even if she liked him, because he liked her. All he knew is he had found a friend at this party, something he was not expecting to happen.

Star had practically spent his evening snacking away at the food, but he had to at least try and fit something in, for politeness sake. He took some hay fries and a bit here and there but kept everything to a minimal. He sat down next to Peachy and got on with his meal. It was quite awkward, especially the prolonged silence, but what can you do?
