Cascade nodded as the dance ended. "I guess that's alright." SHe took a few steps back, off the dance floor, to sit with Star Keeper. She assumed that Styles was going to do a solo dance, by the way he had phrased his request. Cascade smiled reassuringly at Star Keeper as she sat with him, as he seemed a bit tense, and nodded a hello to the pony who had only just arrived. @@The-Master, @@MagicalStarRain

Chaser Wing nodded back and turned his view back to the whole, beautiful room. He was amazed and surprised at how much work and detail must've went into building this magnificent castle! He planned on asking somepony at some point how they managed to build this place. For now though, his eyes was scanning the crowd for any mare who doesn't have a dance partner.

Cascade smiled, and nodded. "It really was fun. I can dance with you, too, if you wanted." She looked at him, her eyes sparkling. "It would mean an awful lot more with you. But... I guess we can go to the gallery too. It's that door, halfway up the stairs." She didn't sound overly disappointed... She was happy to do what Keeper wanted for a while.

"No no no, we can dance if you want to." Star hastily said, trying not to appear too nervous. "Although you may have to giv me a bit of guidance  The gallery can wait, doesn't matter so long as I've got you here."

 

"So, um...  shall we?" Star extended a hoof to Cascade politely, giving a warm smile to her. "Only if you wanted to, of course..."

"Oh, your taking the lead now." He said jokingly. "So which way should we go, to the outside. I do believe the fireworks are starting. Or we could go for a dance." He was smiling now, a lot. "Of course, the fireworks could make it impossible to listen to hear the music we dance to."

"Oh... uh, I don't dance." she said with a small nervous laugh. "But the fireworks do sound nice ill admit." she said heading to the door that led out side. Before she made it out though she noticed Cascade with a stallion she hadn't met before. *I should really go apologize to her. Hopefully Aarod wont mind that I do that real quick.* she thought as she turned to Aarod. "I need to go do something real quick before we do though..." With that she glided over to where Cascade was and waited a moment before speaking. "Umm, Cascade..." she called quietly unsure of how the mare thought about her.

"Oh... uh, I don't dance." she said with a small nervous laugh. "But the fireworks do sound nice ill admit." she said heading to the door that led out side. Before she made it out though she noticed Cascade with a stallion she hadn't met before. *I should really go apologize to her. Hopefully Aarod wont mind that I do that real quick.* she thought as she turned to Aarod. "I need to go do something real quick before we do though..." With that she glided over to where Cascade was and waited a moment before speaking. "Umm, Cascade..." she called quietly unsure of how the mare thought about her.

"Of course do what you need to." He said, watching her for a moment. Hopefully she isn't going back to Draco, I don't want her hurt anymore this day. He thought to himself, not paying attention to where she had gone now. He walked over to the refreshment table to wait for her, hoping she wouldn't miss him when she came back looking for him. He looked at the food, and selected what seemed to be a cookie thing, and bit into it.

Chaser Wing's ears twitched when he heard a mare quietly call out something. He followed the sound to the source, which turned out to be coming from a light grey pegasus mare. She looked like she was alone without a special somepony, but he had to wait to make sure.

The multi-colors from the fireworks highly amused Peachy as she laid down with Quip. "Ah'm mighty glad ah met you mahself Quip." "Ah'd be lying if ah said this really hasn't been the best day of mah life but it is and ah'm truly happy ah got to spend it with you." She turned and grabbed Quips other hoof. "Quip.....even though it isn't hearts and hooves day will ya be mah very special somepony?"

I shouldn't have been like that. It was my fault in the first place, but uhh, I see youre busy so ill get out of your mane." the last sentence was envious as Hop assumed the two were together. She turned around and began to slowly go back to where Aarod was at.

Star was both relieved and disappointed at not being able to dance with Cascade. It meant that he would miss out on a sweet moment, but he would at least keep his terrible dance moves hidden for now. He trotted up to her side to watch the fireworks, enjoying the beautiful display. Oh, and the fireworks were nice as well.

 

But when Hop apologised, Star placed a comforting hoof around Cascade. "She seemed genuine. I didn't really see what happened so I'm no help right now."

@, Quip breathed in deeply and nodded, "Yes, i'd be happy to be your very special somepony" he said before leaning in to kiss her, hoping she would return the kiss with even more affection. If she really loved him as much as she said, he knew she would do just that.

Aarod noticed Hop start to walk back, but she walking slower now. Oh I hope something else has not happened now, she was finally starting to get a little calmer, at least I think she was. Aarod started to walk up to her, to meet her halfway there. "Hello, Hop, has everything gone alright?" He asked.

Rockshire nodded and took Stars hoof.

Star smiled and the two of them trotted outside to the beach. Star lay down on the sand and looked up at the night sky. Rockshire lay down next to her.

"Aye I would shall we milady?" Draco asked as he walked towards the punch bowl. "Careful now it's spiked. I usually bring along a bottle of water but I kinda forgot to do it," Draco said with embarassment. "Oh I hear fireworks, outside want to go see it with me?" Draco asked.

"I'd love to, Draco. Just let me get a cup and we can go outside and watch the show!" She took a cup and pulled it through the punch, pulling it out and pouring a little back in to prevent from getting drunk. "There we go, I am ready to go. Shall we?"

You're helping me more than you realise." And it was true. Probably the only reason she'd kept a level head at all when Hop walked up was that Star Keeper stood at her side, reassuring as he was.

She looked up to the sky to watch the bright colors go off with the beautiful designs of the rockets exploding.

"It is." She leaned against him, though she noticed the fireworks had not began yet, but they were merely preparing. "We will have a better view down there, where the is nothing blocking our view. We can watch from there."

He followed her out the door, taking no notice of the stallion standing there. When he made it outside, he saw her looking up at the fireworks. "There beautiful aren't they Hop, just like you." He said. A little cheesy of a line, but it will have to do. His mind told him. Shut up my brain, I do not have time for this. He told himself, for some reason thinking he could argue with himself.

Star Keeper felt the weight lift off him completely, as if he was now about to suddenly float off. The light kiss on the check enough to get a rather unmanly sqwee from him. He managed to regain what little composure he had, forcing his extended wings back down.He still couldn't handle it, that he didn't deserve this, any of it. He couldn't even get the thoughts into proper words.

 

"I-I, well... thanks. I mean, I really..." Oh come on spit it out. "I just... well, really."

 

He took a deep breath, exhaling loudly. "Why do you even like me? What does anyone see in a stallion such as myself. I mean, look at you. You're just beautiful and talented and witty. What did I do to deserve anything like that...?"

"I think today could have gone better." she said reflecting on the day, as she usually did before she went to bed to make plans for the next day. "Aarod can you promise me something?" she asked with a hint of worry in her voice.

 

"I don't know, I found it to be a pretty nice day after I met you." He said, smiling. He then sat down next to her and laid back. "And of course, you know I will promise you anything." He said, still  smiling. He didn't expect it would be anything bad. He continued to watch the fireworks as he waited for her to continue.

Hop was about to ask her question when she heard a different stallion speak. She looked behind her and saw the red stallion from before. Her face instantly turned a bright red her mind began to panic. "I- uh, uhhh..." she looked over at Aarod with a panicked expression then back at the stallion. "I- I don't know..." she squeaked as she folded in her wings and curled up to make herself smaller. She didn't even know this ponies name and he was asking her out, which freaked her out quite a bit. It also restarted her whole fear of being left or abandoned.

Cascade sighed, and closed her eyes. She'd been afraid of this. She'd been afraid that she wouldn't have an answer, wouldn't know what to say... And it sounded... almost... like he wasn't happy. What had she done wrong?

 

She gathered her thoughts, and tried to explain them...

 

"Well, I..." she took a deep breath, almost as if steeling herself - "You don't give yourself nearly enough credit, you know that? You're smart, and you... I like the way you look and... And..." Her eyes had begun to water up. "Your heart is in the right place. You're kind, and caring, even if you don't know what to say, you at least try, and..." She had lost the battle against her own eyes, and tears had begun to flow. "And I feel stronger around you. I don't know why, but when you're there I'm not afraid... And... And..."

 

*sob*

 

She had really managed to get herself worked up, delving into these reasons. She really rather had surprised herself that the answers came so easily. 

 

"And... And... You think I'm beautiful and talented.... Even with these!" She flared out her wings, and in the emotional state she was in, the fine feathers of the wing stuck up, showing just how horrible the deformed wings were when the fine layer of feathers weren't covering them like a tarp. With the feathers on end, the wing underneath could be seen clearly. It was not only a defect of the feathers. The muscles and structure of the wing underneath was warped and ugly. "I can't even fly with these..." 

 

She laid down, and buried her head in her hooves, the haunting chanting from her childhood coming back to her. Her wings retracted, and covered themselves with the feathers once again, and almost seemed to be hiding at her sides. She had always been the outcast in Los Pegasus, as all the children knew just how horrible her wings were, as the feathers hadn't developed until halfway through school. She could still hear them teasing her... Even after all this time, she still felt like the outcast...

 

"Most of all... You seem to understand..."

 

(About the wing... Imagine a hand. In the show, wings are portrayed to have, sort of fingers that stand out when they're extended, right? Hers, instead of being like ordinary hands with fingers, are all palm, but the same size as the others' hands. It doesn't look natural, and the muscles are laid out strangely. It's hard to explain.)
