Hey all! Just wondering if anypony wanted to play/already plays EVE Online or Dust 514. For those who don't know, EVE is a space MMO with the unique quality of having an entirely player-driven economy and a mostly player-driven PVP/PVE environment. If you would like to try the game, just shoot me a PM and I can get you a 21 day (3 week) trial as opposed to the normal 14 day one. If you already play, post your player name or corp name, New Eden is dangerous, we should stick together.

I have an account open(both), but closed it just recently(Eve). Still in the beginner area sadly

Opened my account like 4 years ago, and never progressed lol.

I don't mind reopening though, just closed it temporarily due to school starting up next week and me moving to an apt. (Snow kept me from moving in last week)

I've been playing for a little over 4 years.  I started out with a training corp, then graduated to their 0.0 alliance up in Tenal.  After about a year I went to low-sec to do Faction Warfare.  For the past 16 months I've lived in wormhole space with my corporation.  We've lived in a C2, a C4 and a couple C5s.

 

These days my favored setup is a Loki + Rapier or Loki + Cane dual-box.  I do a lot of solo hunting, but plenty of small gang (3-5 man) ops too.  Right now I'm doing the cat and mouse game against a Russian guy in another Rapier in some C2 further down the chain.

 

As for Dust, I've been in the closed beta since May, and (as you probably know) it'll be cool to see what happens tomorrow when they merge Tranquility with the Dust server.

Cool! I only started playing a bit ago, but it's already one of my favorite games... I just got into a corp that does a bit of mining and some WH encounters (we have a C2 of our own, but our alliance has a C6)...

Oh, it's fun.  But also painful.

 

About an hour ago we (Sleipnir, Broadsword, Talos, Maelstrom, Hound) ambushed a Rattlesnake and a Drake at a Pulsar C3 anomaly.  The Drake melted fast, but the Rattlesnake was a tough nut to crack.  Unfortunately, the Sleepless Upholder (NPC) proved far more dangerous than the Rattlesnake.  It took out our Talos and Hound, and accounted for 70% of the damage against the Maelstrom before it dropped...one kilometer from the edge of the Broadsword's bubble.

 

I came back with a Kronos and a Fleet Phoon, but I was in a rush, and failed to notice that the Kronos' utility highs were smart bombs instead of the cap/armor transfers necessary to cap chain with the Phoon.  So I couldn't engage, and without the 2200 DPS they would have provided, the Broadsword had to drop bubble and the Rattler got away.  Irritating, to say the least.

wow... just yesterday we got ganked in a C2 (forgot to check the zone for holes we didn't control) and lost a faction fitted Loki, a Raven (it may have been navy, don't remember) and a couple of others...

I've only been playing EVE for about 2 weeks now but I'm loving it tho it is taking me ages to get my skills up since I went from wanting to do mining to wanting to fight and fly a battle cruiser.

EVE is my favorite MMO ever. I don't have enough time to play it but my account is like 5 years old. EVE is the only game I find complicated enough to be challenging. Anyway I'm going to keep myself from gushing.

 

An ex-member of EVE University. (EX-because I had to cancel my sub). 

 

 

DUST514 is rather fun, I just have no one to play it with.

I really should get back into EvE. I ran a Mining and Industry corp, we were part of the Northern Coallation until we got news of a massive attack heading straight for us, we decided to pull out but my second in command decided to steal all our assets instead, billions in perfect BPOs and ISK.

 

I quit the game shortly after, I went back for a month about a year ago to try out some missioning, I have a faction fitted Loki and a whole fleet of mining ships, including 3 orcas, I even have a POS still sat in space but my corp is dead and I can't regain leadership of it :/

Is anybody else caught up in the mad scramble to get their destroyer/battlecruiser/capital skills where they want them before Odyssey launches? My skills are good, but I think I waited too long for the capital rigs thing, and the price gouge on T2 large rigs is biting me.

Well I can fly my Brutix now so I think my skills are goodish. But I'm now working towards getting the skills for tier 2 ship gear so my new ship doesn't go boom.

So me and my corp were getting cozy in our new C3 wormhole. Then we get some guys come though  one of the 4 K165 wormholes we had, collapses our exit to high sec, then leave and we don't get a peep from them.

Luckly we had another exit to high sec that they didn't find.

I started playing DUST 514 and, while the game is good, even though I haven't been in a match yet, the one thing that disappoints me are the lack of trophies for this game, but even so, at least it's a good game. I'll have to re-download it and try it out for myself whenever I'm in the mood to do so.

Luckly we had another exit to high sec that they didn't find.

 

It came back up about 4 hours ago.  During the 5 years I've been playing, this was the longest downtime I can recall.

 

That thing with bandits crashing your HS exit...could be one of several reasons for it.  It sounds like they came from deeper within w-space.  C5s and C6s rarely have a direct resupply route to low or hi-sec, so they will often pass through systems like yours.  When my system (C5 with C5 static) gets a route back out to k-space, we sometimes move many ships through in a short amount of time.  This can collapse the connection before its residents notice what's happening.

 

Alternately, they might have been hunting you or even another group in their chain, whose existence you might not have been aware of.  By collapsing one of the connections, it can force prey through a more easily controlled bottleneck.  Discreet, deliberate hole crashing can be accomplished fairly quickly with several T3s and/or HICs fit with cloaks and 100MN ABs.

Eeyup. Just checked it out on the Trophy Collection menu via XMB and when I checked it out, DUST 514 doesn't appear on the list.

Hmm...actually, I was poking fun at the assumption that anything CCP makes would have trophies at all.  They've never been big on that kind of thing, and prefer to let the players bring/make their own carrots and sticks.

Have we done anything to suggest that we would ask you for this information?
