The only reason you would need to use the reset file is if you used a different pony file. Using the spa/flight files and another pony file is perfectly okay without a reset.

During the Dashie file, I keep having these moments where I drift off and can't remember what was said. I still can't determine if that's me losing concentration or slipping into deeper trance.

HAH, me too. I'm going to be optimistic and say it's us achieving a deeper trance and eventually a stronger effect 

Not to mention, the voice speaks much faster than in the Twi's file, despite it being the same girl.

 

I mean, I understand it's Dash and so it needs to go fast and all, but slow down. I can't even picture myself transforming 

 

Also I couldn't decide on my avatar, but then I found this gif of Dashie looking GLORIOUS and I was sold.

You can use a different file for the same pony. But if you switch to a different pony, a reset is recommended.

Let's say that you're doing Rarity's and you suddenly realized that you're better off doing Twilight's.

Then you need to use the reset file to prevent EKP (which is when one hypnosis attempts to overwrite the other, leading to depression, identity crisis and whatnot)

 

BUT you can still use the spa/flight files as a supplement without having to reset.

You can switch to different versions of the same file.

Basically all it comes down to is: You don't have to reset unless you want to become something else.

 

As for the average... all I know is that it could take anywhere from a day to several months. It's highly subjective

tulpa =/= hypnosis. once you get a tulpa, it's very hard (in several ways) to get rid of one.
