Yeah, I'm also quite a big anime fan. Currently watching Kill La Kill, Hetalia Season 2 and a few other things. Cowboy Bebop remains as my favourite anime of all time, with Nichijou and the original Ghost in the Shell movie also being right up there. Speaking of this year though, there really hasn't been many standouts for me personally. Besides Kill La Kill and Dangan Ronpa, there was nothing I went out of my way to watch that came out regularly.

I highly recommend Uchouten Kazoku. It's easily the best anime I've seen from this year closely followed by Hentai Ouji but Kill la Kill and Golden Time might overtake that one.

Ooh yup I've just started watching a couple of episodes of Attack on Titan. I really do like it as a whole. The voice acting and music is lovely, I especially love the Ending song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuR9Pjfps2E

Although I do not understand the imagery of the music video just yet :< maybe if I watch more I'll understand Mikasa's character better. The storytelling techniques are quite good in fact, I wasn't expecting that at all. So yup I'll see what comes of Eren and his training and will be watching the rest of the series soon enough ^-^

So I started watching Dangan Ronpa yesterday and I'm already on episode 9. This anime is AMAZING. The first one in years that's making me want to marathon the entire thing in one day. It's an extremely well put together show, even if it's a little short.

So I guess I be the only person this week talking about the anime of the week....again.

I actually find how Free! came to be rely interesting.

Kyoto were doing a tech demo from one of the animation teams to show off how well they have gotten at animating water but the character designs and the swimming team aspect made people believe that this was a actual show that would be coming soon and fangirls were hooked to this... so hook that Kyoto would decided to make an anime for ir after all. And then the male otaku lost there shit.

Yeah Dangan Ronpa was pretty good, just a shame the it took way to much from the game and copied it scene for scene with the punishments being taken from the game. Then again the game and its sequel are rely good so can't blame them for that.

( Leaves for a few weeks due to family business......returns to a dead thread again)

Sigh

(Kicks the hell out of the thread)

WHY (KICK) DO YOU YOU KEEP DYING (KICK) ON ME YOUR (KICK) THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME ON THE FORUMS (KICK) NOW.... LIVE!

Ok so we just had a Attack on Titan OVA come out and while it was awesome there's something that bothers me heavily.

This has a major major plot point about the second season and while in the manga there was only a one month gap for this plot to fully form, Anime fan who watch this and not the manga too will have a long ass wait with this little plot element around a specific character scratching at them.

So I don't rely see why this OVA didn't wait till season 2 was announced and used as hype I mean I would have been better served as that and we could just have the single OVA episode that coming soon along with the manga chapter about Levi's past.

anyway that all I have in me atm but I will have a huge wall of text coming up about every anime I have watch this year and my thoughts on each one.

Oh I didn't realise there was such a thing, although I don't even think about typing the words 'Shingeki no Kyojin' into any sort of search engine out of fear for spoilers. Did read a bit of the plot for it and it sounds pretty interesting.

The first OVA is called Shingeki no Kyojin Ilsen Techou if you want to look for it and there nothing wrong with the plot point it has, I just think it would have been better served as something to lead into season 2 right after. But still its a good little Hanjin centerd episode.

And I know what you mean about not googleing it you get nothing but massive spoiler for deviant art -_- I actually kinda hope this all dies down cos its kinda making anime conventions dull when all you can see is loads of people in the corp uniforms and maybe two or three people cosplaying someone else :(.

massive spoiler for deviant art

I know this well, when I first started watching it I decided I'd change my wallpaper to something Titan themed and the first image I saw gave away so much, even past where season 1 finished. Tried so hard to forget the images I saw that day...

Yep I got a major spoiler from a friends drawing on DA too..... so I took all 9 his Attack on titan volumes as compensation :P. I thing artist need to learn to put spoiler warnings up for stuff the anime caught up to and when they say "well its where the manga is you should read that too" point out that the image was from when the anime started.... Well that what I do.

I watched the first two episodes of Attack on Titan due to extreme hype within the anime community.......I am not sold on it.....something just doesn't add, and I don't know what yet, but I will keep watching to figure it out. However, this could just be my "because it's popular, it must be cliched as crap and people just don't care".....this is a major assertion on the Shonen genre as a whole in my eyes.  I mean yeah, I was into the Big 3 back in middle/high school.....but I grew out of them.  Now, whenever I take a look at the shonen category with new anime, I really have to get over this 3-5 episode "hump" in which I have a major distaste for it.

I had this problem with the most recent shonen-esc anime I watched Fate Zero, but once I got into the story, all the fighting elements just became "meh" in my eyes (although visually, they were stunning)....and now, even though I know Fate/Stay Night is no where near as good and the prequel, I'm pounding through it, wanting to know how the characters from Fate Zero turn out (no matter how whiny and high school cliched it is).

As for spoilers, it's kind've similar to how I pick out books. Reading the inserted flap or back cover just isn't enough to quip my interest.  I have to read a paragraph or two somewhere in the middle, and if it catches my curiosity enough, I'll read the entire thing, and if it doesn't, I put it down until I come across it again.  With anime, I need to know a bit more, such as reading a spoiler free review, or just see how the anime community has reacted to said anime. I try to not get up in the popular things anymore, because honestly, more often than not it's cliched as it'll get with a ribbon of a somewhat different plot and characters tied to it. Perfect example of this is just any anime that involves High School.  Take any High School centred anime, and compare it with others of its genres, and you get pretty similar results across the board.

Anyway, still trying to find out what's so great about Attack on Titan.  I just hope I don't get bashed by fanatics who say my brain is screwed up to not like it. I'm just being reasonable and analytical, why invest time into a piece of entertainment that may not appeal to you, but is so popular that you feel left out not knowing about it so you watch it just to save face and stay "included"....

In a story telling sense, analytically, the first two episodes are above average. Not super amazing however as it does have some flaws (it's difficult to follow for one) but on the upside there are some really great story telling techniques used - overall it's good. You've probably overlooked some points.

I've only seen the first two episodes though.

I can understand where you're coming from by things not adding up. It's slightly clunky in its ordering but the way each part is shown is nicely done.

I will say the animation is downright GORGEOUS!!! I have yet to see an animation style like that coming out of Japan. It reminds me of the pony comics and probably any comics for that matter.

I am 10 episodes in, and honestly I am still not sold on it.  It's kind've meh...the pacing is just bad, and that really takes it away for me and the faces....it's like Higurashi meets Fate Zero (or any popular shonen series) and that just doesn't add up very well....plus there is just too much...bad...the characters have their stories and how cane we be sold on them when they'll be killed by GIANT bloodthirsty man babies....Personal opinion on the Titans themselves. They aren't menacing because they are just giant sized Edd Geins (Google that name if you don't know who he is)....BUT, in order to keep up with the anime fandom, I hope to see the series through to the end, albeit slowly....

On to another anime, I recently just out PLOWED through Shin Sekai Yori. This is probably one of the amazing animes I've seen in recent years. Anyone else seen this anime?

I didn't say anything about animation P: Well with the fact that I've not watched anymore since would show that I'm not interested in it either. I hate bad pacing, I think I'll just follow your opinion rather than watch it myself hehehe.

Sorry I couldn't cut down the quote, the mobile site is hard to use.

My comment on the animation was there to basically say there was something to my liking about the anime. I didn't really want to be full on hater over it since there are many in the anime community that adore it with a passion. Other than the animation, there's nothing I really like (except Mikasa, I love her character)...
