So is anyone looking forward to Guillermo Del Toro's new film, coming out this summer?

I searched all over and couldn't find this...So I decided to bring this up.

 

        Plot synopsis:

 

    "When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising
     from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume
     humanitys resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a
     special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers,
     which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked
      in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless
      in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces
     defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a
      washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko
      Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete
      Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankinds last hope against
       the mounting apocalypse."

I saw this movie yesterday. It was so beast. The kaiju were great and I really liked the characters. This movie is a giant kaiju/giant mech fan's dream come true.

Sounds interesting. I haven't heard about it, but I'll look it up to learn more about it. I usually like to research films I want to see a little bit.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this until now...

 

One thing that puzzles me about people is their insistence to compare this to Neon Genesis Evangelion.

 

Which I don't get.

 

Because this movie doesn't seem like one big Mind-F@#k.

 

Well..At least someone here seems to be interested.

Why yes it is.

 

GLaDOS that is.

 

Same Actress as a matter of fact.

 

Sadly it will sound a bit different in the movie.

 

She is going to be the voice of the Jaeger A I- not a cake cook.

I am so down with this movie. It is going to rock! I mean, when you have those two things, you know it's going to be awesome. I was always a fan of these type of movies. :D

I'm a huge fan of action movies so I'm definitely going to see this when it comes out can't wait to see giant robots take on giant monsters!

Yep its thw same voice actor and they made her sound like that in the trailer, apparently she is a little more toned down from full GLaDOS in the film though,

 

I CANT WAIT for this. All my friends think I'm crazy but I don't care, even if it is cheezy and very "Michel bay esc" (which from what I have heared so far it's not going to be a bad purely explosion filled film), The it will still be a barrel of laughs and a load of fun :D!

 

I mean its Mec's + aliens and they use a MASSIVE SHIP FOR A SWORD!!!!

Ah ok, hopefully the trailers won't put some people off then (like it seemingly has with some of my friends).

 

I actually can't wait for it :)! with this in mind it might be better then I expected and have a deeper story/meaning to it!

Why do I still get the feeling that this movie is juat a giant cheap rip off of every single mecha anime, with this here in the lead by far?

It is inspired by Japanese mecha anime. Just not any one in particular. Watch this video if you want to know about the design process of the robots (Jaegers) (Del Toro even says what his favourite mecha anime is):

The movie looks alright. Isn't there another new film coming out some time this year called 'Atlantic Rim'? Because they look almost the same.

Two reasons why I kinda want to see the movie:

GLaDOS is the voice for the Jaeger program thingy.

Jesse, Dodger, TB, Husky and Game Grumps are doing a promo for it.

 

Plus it just looks cool.

I was meh about this movie but then Hideo Kojima, father of Metal Gear went nuts about it and now Im totally HYPED about this movie.

Atlantic Rim is a spoof of Pacific Rim made by the Asylum film studio which has made such well known movies such as Sharknado. The Asylum make mostly so called 'Mockbusters' which are low budget spoofs of current Hollywood movies.

This movie looks awesome. Giant robots have always been awesome, so I see no reason to not see a movie with giant robots. Except Michael Bay's Transformers. Those were...okay, in my opinion.

Really excited for this one. Not just because I hope it's good, but because it'd be sweet to see a movie not based on a existing property make some money.

 

If it makes money. Gawd knows Warner Bros. spent all their marketing effort on Man of Steel instead of trying to sell this movie to people who weren't already sold (nerds in general, anime fans, Del Toro fans, cool people), not to mention that it's opening the same weekend as Grown-ups 2, aka Adam Sandler Ass-Fest 2013, and the general public is kind of dumb that way.

 

Gentlemen, we an not have a repeat of what happened when Scott Pilgrim opened the same weekend as The Expendables.
