Losing Interest?

~Vallo~

Does anyone else ever feel bored about this? I'm kind of getting tired of the show, the fandom, etc. It just seems kind of repetitive.

But now I never see any new material, and it seems the quality and growth of the fandom is steadily declining.

Then you're not looking hard enough. Seriously :3 Fan content spills out of this fandom around the clock, all over the internet, all the time. I mean, really xD There is no other fandom on the planet that is as active or has produced as much stuff as we have in so little amount of time ^^ It's not declining in quality, and certainly not in growth.

I suggest getting more into the fandom itself, if you somehow can't latch onto the show, even new episodes. Get involved in projects, take up writing or use one of your other talents, etc.

You could try rewatching your favorite episodes, reading some fan fiction, listening to some fan music, etc. You don't need to feel bad if you feel like you're losing interest. I don't watch the show every day. Sometimes I might not even watch it at all for a whole week. That doesn't mean I love the show any less, it just means that there are other things that I'm interested in, too. So, maybe you should just take a break from watching MLP for awhile, and then go back to watching it later. I usually shift in my interests primarily for what I do on the internet and what music I listen to. Sometimes I'll listen to a band for awhile, then listen to another band for awhile for something different, but that doesn't mean I like the first band any less. Sometimes I'll focus more on a particular website than another one, and shift my focus to different sites every now and then, but that doesn't mean that I necessarily like any of those sites any less. Including this website, there are probably about five websites I use the most frequently. Some days I'll use one more than the other, but that doesn't mean I'm necessarily losing interest in any of them. So, I wouldn't worry. Just watch MLP when you feel like it.

if I run out of videos or something to watch, I just go on to youtube and watch a "top 10 brony video" video, that usually helps me find new vids!

People have this idea that they are doing something wrong when they start losing interest in the show or the community. I think it's natural. Some people will lose interest sooner. Maybe it's all the alicorn drama that's draining your interest? Maybe you just need a few days away from all this. It'll still be here when want it again. And if you never want to come back, then it was just you moving on.

Overthinking it doesn't help either. Just do what feels natural.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

I have to say i completely agree with this. I am a huge pokemon fan but sometimes i feel like not playing for months. I still love it. Its just natural completely natural. If we do the same things over again then well eventually get bored humans need diversity.

I searched for a thread similar to this, but couldn't find anything, but go ahead and delete or merge if I'm wrong.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I actually have a pretty basic and simple "problem" that's been bothering me for about a month.

I've been a fan of the show since about late summer of 2012, and I've watched the show almost everyday since then. But lately, I've been losing interest in watching the show. I still like it, but I really don't know how to really explain this.

I know it's just a show, but I don't want to drift away from the community. But watching the show has been the thing that has kept me involved in it.

But I haven't watched the show in about a month, and the "scary" thing is...I don't really want to. I just find myself not even wanting to really come here anymore. I've simply lost interest.

But I don't want to lose interest. I remember when I was new to the community and everything was new and exciting. But now I never see any new material, and it seems the quality and growth of the fandom is steadily declining.

-------------------------------------------------

So I'm going to end on this note. Does anybody have some good recommendations in order to get my interest back?

First of don't worry it's something natural.

I myself am a huge Legend of Zelda fan, but just because I don't play one of the games from the series in a month dosn't mean I lost interest. It's just something that happens naturally. For example during the wait for the next season (being season 4) I may stop watching the show for a bit. Now I can go back at any moment I want, but of I stay on these fourms, such as what you are doing, then technically I'm still in the fandom.

In any case, you can watch random pony videos on YouTube.

Here is a good video, and it's in parts.

"Turnabout Storm"

If you like the Phoenix Wright series you will love this. Even if you don't you should give it a try. It's actually pretty interesting. The voices may be off, but in all honesty that didn't bother me at all, just the fact that they made something like this amazes me.

Anyway another thing that you could do is read fan-fics. If you are interested you can even make your own fan-fics to keep you in the pony mode. It may be hard at first, but it can also be fun.

You can listen to pony music as well.

Pony art is always something that amazes me with the fandom.

Equestriadaily.com always has new content coming in daily, and may even show you things that wil come to your interest.

Anyways I hope this helps.

Bye :)

I feel you bro, i got super into this at the 2nd to last month of last year and i was so excited. I was squealing like a school girls whenever i saw the first season. but then when i finished the 2nd season i started losing interest and was getting super depressed cause of it. I was already a member of the forums and it felt like even that was letting me down. I then stepped back from it. it took a realization that i was on the brink of insanity due to personal issues to bring me back into loving the buck out of the show and all of it.

Yeah, it's a natural thing. I was quite active on these forums for some time. But lately I've been doing other things. I have class, I like to play Minecraft, League of Legends, Magic, I watch anime from time to time. With all of that said I haven't been as involved with Ponies as I was previously. I still love the forums, the show and the fandom though. I really wouldn't stress it. Sometimes you just need a break, and sometimes you just grow out of things which is totally fine. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Oh you silly willy, you aren't losing interest, this just means you're lusting for more pony shizz. Go out there and find some fan content, listen to some brony songs, play on brony TF2 servers, get involved, etc. You'll be fine, I assure you. This is not a trick.

I suppose I'm the opposite.  The more and more pony stuff I look at the more and more disinterested I get in the show.  Granted I've been at the point where I don't touch art, music nor fanfiction with a 10 foot pole (or the Hyper Wave Cannon whichever is more applicable).

I think sometimes though it's a good idea to take a break from ponies, go out and catch up on other things and come back once you feel refreshed.  That's how I do it, anyways.

Yeah this is similar happened to me too, I watched The first 11 episodes and then lost interest, I took me about 2 months to really get back in to the show, Then when I rewatched it I loved it even more Then I did before.

I find that Just talking around the community gets me back into the spirit of things.Maybe you could Participate in a RP,they're always fun.The art In our fandom Always amazes me too.

I concur, and CD listed some good suggestions.  However, another suggestion that I'd raise is maybe just take a temporary break from the fandom, especially if you really can't invest more time in it than you do now; after a couple of weeks to a month or so, maybe everything will seem a bit more fresh when you return.  :)

To be honest, my advice would be, if you're not interested in the show or the fandom at the moment, don't try to force yourself to be. We all need a break and even I have had moments when I'm not as obsessed as I usually am. Spend some time in the community, watch your favorite episode, whatever - if that helps, great! If you're still not back into the poni, that's fine too. No one says you have to be in the fandom forever, and if you don't feel happy here, find something else that makes you happy. There's no shame in that.

Try looking at fanfictions, artwork, listening to music, etc. Trust me, whenever I feel that I'm losing interest in the show (which is hardly ever, I have to admit), I always just look at all of the great things that the community has churned out, and I'm interested again.

The brony fandom is probably the best fandom I've been in. Way better than the DBZ fandom, where everyone is at each other's throats arguing about power levels, dubs, etc.
