Wanted to bounce a couple of ideas off you guys...

I'm bouncing around a couple of ideas for three fan fiction stories and wanted to know what people here thought of them.  (If there's a better place to ask this sort of thing, lemme know. )

 

In the first story, I'm envisioning a boy pony with a huge crush on Fluttershy, but who is just about as shy as she is.  He desperately wants to ask her out on a date, but his shyness makes him really awkward whenever he gets up the nerve to approach her.  And of course, being as shy as she is, she ends up running away from him, which doesn't help matters much.  Eventually, he becomes friends with one of the other Mane 6 (probably Applejack) and confides in her.  She in turn helps build his confidence and break the ice with Fluttershy, and then helps the two of them meet up.

 

The second story would feature a conversation between Princess Cadance and Twilight Sparkle on matters of love and relationships.  Since Cadance had helped to raise Twilight, and Twilight had once witnessed Cadance cast a love spell over an arguing couple, Twilight would want to learn more about that ability and what it means to the ponies it's used on.  Cadance would counsel her on the tremendous responsibility that goes along with such a spell - particularly knowing when she mustn't use it.  Twilight would learn some valuable lessons about relationships and how to work through the rough patches on her own.

 

And the third story would be a short vignette written from Princess Luna's point of view, exploring her duties as Guardian of the Night.  Mostly, it would explore her ability to appear in the dreams of ponies throughout the land, and would reenact part of the sequence between her and Scootaloo (from Sleepless in Ponyville).  But I'd also describe how she watches over those who are awake during the night, occasionally patrolling the skies, and exploring her thoughts while she's on her quiet night flights.

 

Any of these worth pursuing?

I like the sound of them all, the first being my particular favorite even though Luna and Scoots are two of my favorite ponies.

 

I would have the stallion in the first story befriend Rarity though since her and Flutters have been shown as close friends, going to the spa weekly and such.

I just have to say, I found this hilariously ironic next to your forum title.

 

Thanks for the feedback.   The reason I thought of Applejack first is that she often comes across as the most motherly of the Mane 6 (at least to me).  I think if I were in the stallion's shoes, I'd probably see her as the most approachable, and more so than Rarity.  But you're right, she's not as close to Fluttershy as Rarity is.  (I always thought Rainbow Dash was even closer in some ways, but he'd find her really difficult to approach.)

 

Maybe he'd go to Applejack first, and then she'd recruit Rarity to help out or something.

I like the sound of the second two better than the first. Not really fond of OC main character fanfiction, personally, but I honestly can't say you shouldn't write it. If you would have fun doing it, why not? Regardless, the first two sound like things I'd go out of my way to read. 

 

Also, any writing is good writing because you're getting practice; I say you should do all of 'em.

Let me put it to you simply, alright? You should do what you truly want to do. I shouldn't be saying this as I have my own issues doing the same thing, and I'm constantly looking for the advice of others, but if it's what you want to do, then you do it and I'm sure it will fit well.

What I mean by that is, no matter what you write there are going to be people that don't like it, but there will always be those who will like it. Its the little things that go a wrong way, Harkan. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks.   I'm not so much worried about whether it would be okay to write them.  I was just more curious than anything to see what people thought about these ideas and if they had suggestions on where to take them.  (I have just these basic ideas floating around, but nothing ready for actual writing yet.)  I'm also curious as to if they've already been done - I don't really want to write something that a million other fans have already written.

I really like the 2nd and 3rd story I really do. I think Twilight learning more about the love ability that Cadance did on the arguing couple sounds pretty interesting.

Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash's development really will be so cute, I guess seeing it from Luna's perspective sounds deeply amazing. I think it would be simply divine.

That, I can actually understand. The strive to be original and new, fresh and unique, is something that is harder and harder to come by. To bring something new to the table and to bring a new idea is like bringing a new element to the periodic table. But I understand this all too well and it is something that many people worry about it.

 

So let me put it this way: 

 

Even if it's not a brand new, fresh out of the box idea, it all comes down to the writer and what they are able to add to a well known recipe. "Oh wow, *yawn* pizza, yay....Just what I *yawn* always- HOLY SHIT IS THAT PINEAPPLE!?!" 

 

It's that simple idea that makes something new. It doesn't have to be a new breed of story to be unique...it simply needs its own cutie mark.

All of these story's are cool bro. I suggest you should make them and I would defiantly read all 3 of them, especially the first one

Well, I posted the one about Luna - I was inspired last night and wrote it all out in one sitting.   It's been up since early Sunday morning, and I got a link up on Fimfiction.net as well.  Eager to find out what everypony thinks of it.
