Koori 156 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 Again, as others have said, Hasbro didn't take the you-tube videos down, it was Google's faulty content ID system. The same thing as happened to other abridged series. I'm having flashbacks of Tommy Wiseu's crusade against people reviewing "The Room" and well all know how that ended. Exactly when did I say that it's Hasbro's fault on taking down the YouTube videos? I only said that I understand the reasons on why take down some of them, meaning that some MLP videos would be taken down by YouTube anyway, though I just read about the faulty content ID. 1 Get through the unknown like your life depended on it. Well, you just said they did it, so I was making the point about it. I wasn't saying you blamed them for anything in the matter. Limit reacher text. Betez 1,734 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 Uh, what? MLP's still being made, so they haven't gotten rid of it. Yes, they've started to remove MLP episodes from youtube, but there's other places to get them. I haven't heard anything about them removing fan-mad content. After all, the fans made it themselves. Iron Quill 1 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 yeah the Likelihood of hasbro killing bronydom is slim to none, why you ask? MONEY! 400 bronies make more money than all of the 7 year old girls in America combined, it would hurt them to kill bronydom more than it would hurt us. those things they are shutting down are actually violating copyright, heck if they wanted they could probably take down half of deviant art. i honestly think their being very linient. legaly speaking.
Magpie 623 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 (edited) They aren't killing the fandom. They're protecting their copyright, because they have the legal right to do so. The reason it was pulled from youtube is because they don't receive money from people watching it there, and it is illegal to have copyrighted content on youtube, unless you own said copyright. Say you created a show, and others posted your content on youtube, taking money from you. I'd imagine you would want the videos gone as well. The fan-made content was removed for the same reasons, the characters are theirs, and they can stop others from using them if they wish. But they can only remove fan-made content if it infringes their rights. Also, Bronies have a lot more income to spend on toys than 6-year-old girls. "Then they finally pulled the plug on my little pony: friendship is magic" Um, no, they didn't. It still exists, there is a new episode today, and season 4 is confirmed for 26 episodes. Darth Fader 24 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 (edited) Just a thought. Is it possible that the recent increase in copyright claims could be that Hasbro is trying to look attractive for a takeover bid? And protecting their assets may help that. Just a thought. Remember the whole Disney speculation thing? Edited February 9, 2013 by ajm "Exit signs - they're on the way out aren't they?" "Velcro. What a rip-off!" Scootalove 10,689 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 I think I'm at 50/50 on this one. If Hasbro kills bronydom, their fans and money will all disappear like Infinity Ward's bank account. Motion Spark 7,807 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 I'm starting to believe that they want to erradicate us with their actions for what happened with Fighting is Magic, the brony fandom is the best thing that could happen to them in their span as a enterprise. But as a corporation, they have to protect the interest and eliminate any sign of threat to them. Unfortunatelly, their choices are killing the fandom IMO, anything with the pony on it has high chances of becoming a success and with that comes wanted or unwanted money, if they found something that has the chances of making money out of their brands they has to enforce law upon them and erradicate them. I think I'm at 50/50 on this one. If Hasbro kills bronydom, their fans and money will all disappear like Infinity Ward's bank account. Pretty much, Hasbro - Bronydom = No money. sadly, even without bronydom they would still make money, they dominate the children target with plenty of known franchises with cartoon or toys, movies, board games and videogames. It's not like we exclusively feed them but they can't deny that MLP is their biggest franchise as of today because of us. ~Vallo~ 409 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 I don't why everybody is making a big deal out of the YouTube takedowns. YouTube did it themselves. It's not like they only delete MLP episodes. They delete every video that is copyrighted because it is illegal to post them. I think everyone just needs to calm down. It's just a cartoon. 1 Your breath stinks. FoxyCryptid 4,330 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 I think everyone needs to stop overreacting and acting like two C&Ds and a faulty content ID system is a full on attack on bronies, considering they seem to have plans to cater to the older fans in the works. 1 "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. Harmonic Revelations 8,835 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 Hasbro will not kill the fandom, if anything, the fandom will kill Hasbro. Freewave 1,145 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 The sky is not falling but there is a ceiling. When fan creations are getting close enough to resemble official products Hasbro will begin stepping in. Will they eventually cancel this show, of course. This won't last forever. But we're a long way off hopefully. 1 I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it.. Malakili 165 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 The real question is : will Bronydom kill Hasbro? Seriously though, I really don't believe that will ever happen. We haven't gone so far, given so much to the fandom to just turn back and leave the fandom because of wings on Twilight or even their asshole behavior towards us. 1 Thanks a lot to ShyForever for the great signature! FoxyCryptid 4,330 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 Also another thing, if they wanted to kill us off, they wouldn't be licensing crap-tons of crap with the word "Brony" on it for Hot Topic to sell, they would've refused the deal. 2 "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. Or constantly pander to us with things like Hub spots, such as Equestria Girls which directly shouted us out and most recently the Stay Pony, My Friends commercial, a parody of a beer commercial/meme which doesn't seem as if it was aimed at little girls but rather at grown men or teens who would get the joke. 1 Thanks a lot to ShyForever for the great signature! All they have to do is look at those direct sales to see how much money they make off us. Pony toyss and cards is a bit harder but i still think a good chunk (if not the majority) is BY us. My Wal-Mart keeps the pony cards in the trading card aisle next to the Magic Cards, instead of back in toys, so they know who's buying them. I was checking Facebook, and the new line of really detailed toys of characters us bronies would buy seem like another good sign they still want us. EmmerichWolfe 47 February 10, 2013 Share February 10, 2013 This crap is everywhere you look. DHN, EqD, /mlp/... The doomsayers are getting annoying. We're making Hasbro money, and our content is free advertisement. Yeah, you can point to absurd examples of what Hasbro would consider "bad for PR" like hotdiggedydemon, but people are going to pervert anything on the internet. If Hasbro wanted us done and over with, they'd Order 66 our asses, take full control of the show, and destroy everything that made it popular, thus dooming G4 to the mediocrity of the previous gens.

Let's not forget that, if Hasbro really wanted to, there would be no episodes on youtube. They'd be gone and that would be it. Any subsequent episodes uploaded would be taken down faster than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. Seriously, look how fast Michael Brockhoff sent out legal threats when the Bronydoc was uploaded.
