How clever of Hasbro. Perhaos they should acknowledge this in a future episode, perhaps have a pony randomly think about what her name means.

 

So...Either way you slice it, the name makes Cadence in love with herself. No wonder she was never with Shining Armor in Games Ponies Play!

"Mi Amore" translates to 'My Love' so Cadance's full name translated would be:

"My Love, Cadenza"

which, in all reality, was foreshadowing to her marriage probably.

I just love that whole Deceptive and Authentic Cadence thing (which I found out about in the greatest Canterlot wedding review ever) they were doing with the music. It gives her nickname even more kick.

"Mi Amore" kinda sounds like "Mi amor" in spanish (I know it's italian, but both languages are very similar), which means "My love", that makes sense (i guess?) cause she's the princess of love.

Google translate came up with an accurate translation, as opposed to total garbage? Then again, I don't speak Italian, and even I could have told you what Cadance's full name means, so the worst of translation software should be able to as well. That is an amusing name though. It's a little narcissistic, and kind of implies that she's destined to be someone's lover(which she is). Considering she was first introduced as Shining Armor's bride to be, I think it's a fitting name, and perhaps it's a satire on the trope of female characters who exist solely for the purpose of pairing off a male character.
