So I drew my OC, and I'm looking for critique

So I spent about an hour and a half drawing this, and I figured out how my scanner works. This might make my comics much less time-consuming since I'll just have to do some touch-ups on gimp. So, here's Amber Sands!

Look really good Love the hair especially you have gotten lots of detail within it

 

Alot of it looks a bit smudged in the middle between her eyes, not sure if this was intended but i would say maybe neaten it up a bit?

 

Apart from that the drawing of your OC is great but maybe improve the background a bit? (i'm sure you will be ) for instance, you can't really tell what that semi-circle is behind the head.

The circle is the sun   I'm going to try making a full color background and I'll submit it to Equestria Daily, but it probably won't get published :/ Oh well, it's fun drawing!

I really like this fellow brony! Not alot of people can pull off the zebra style, but you sure did. Also, they eyes are great, and the mane is awesome! Keep up the great work!

Well, I'm not such a big fan of zebra OC's, but I think you pulled this one off pretty well. And for this I congratulate you.

However, it is a bit messy.

Also, the main part of the picture (the zebra) is supposed to be the first thing you eyes look at, but my eyes kind of saw the BG first. Maybe my eyes are wrong or something.

But anyways you said you'd touch it up on GIMP.

Hmm, you're right, the focus is kind of off. I'll try flipping it horizontally and see what that does.

 

Excellent!  A zebra OC!  We need more of these...

 

Well, for a start i love your rugged style.  It's not fussy, poncy or over polished and gives a good rustic and outdoor look.  This, in a way communicates the idea of the desert and vast stretches of amber sand.  I do like it a lot   Very well done on getting the blowy thing on the mane too

 

As for the critique part... I'm not one to comment to much as my art is not 100% there yet.  However I'm a little bothered by the eyes.  Not much, but it seems as if they deviate from your style that is excellent throughout.  The eyes should be the finest part of the character.  They can still be more rustic and less poncy like the rest of it, but they need a lot of work put into the smallest areas.  The iris is a bit (just a bit) dull being only one shade of brown and the highlight is not noticeable enough in my view (but that may just be me ).

 

You've worked well on the lashes.  Take that heavy work and mould it into the iris.  Add more than one shade of brown into them (this is a great way to extend your own style) and make them bigger along with the pupils if you want more show-looking eyes   Some of the iris will be hidden behind the lids.

 

Great work nonetheless   Let us see more soon?

I tried adding two tones of brown to her eyes, but I have a rather sad selection of that color. And now that I've figured out my scanner I can show a full-color drawing! *Yay* I just have to rescan it. Maybe I'll upload it tomorrow!
