Really don't see why everypony hates it...The main thing about the episode that many people don't like, is how "breaking the set ups" goes (though I don't believe this is Merriwether's (the writer) or anyone's fault). For one, the arrogance of Rainbow, the passive/aggressive actions of her friends to "make her" learn humility, disrrupts facts about Ponyville, like there being a hill when Ponyville is supposed to be totally flat, and a few other things. I could actually try and explain all those, but it's a really subjective matter, I think.
