It's a great thing! Detail is very important when it comes to writing. You've got to know what needs detail and what is better without detail.

Everything could use detail, but too much detail can bore the reader.

The only none boring books I've ever read were Percy Jackson and FoE.

Mosquitoes are so much worse. They're such effective spreaders of disease that they've killed half of all humans that have ever lived. Spiders can't even compare. Plus, mosquitoes leave those awful itchy bumps!  :eww:
