Homura Akemi 974 April 8, 2013 Share April 8, 2013 I didn't need to "deal" with anything. I realized I was now into a show that I'd known about for 5 months prior. I was pretty glad I was.
Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 April 9, 2013 Share April 9, 2013 (edited) Before I became a Brony, I always knew the show was quite big, and I knew Bronies existed because FiM stuff was all over the internet. I was never judgmental or anything, I just thought "Oh that's cool, it must be a good show", so I gave it a try and watched Friendship is Magic part 1 & 2. I thought it was good, but it wasn't really enough to get me hooked, but after hanging out online, I knew of the characters and the basic plot. Then, right around Halloween 2012, I sat down and watched it all, and that was it, I was hooked. I wasn't against being a Brony or anything, it just sort of happened, and then I told my friends, and got involved online, and never looked back :3 Now, my life and day to day activities revolve around FiM xD You know, your story is very similar to mine, because I had known about Bronies since April 2011 and watched the first two episodes all the way back then and then just completely forgot about it for a long time. I then came back to it at the request of a friend in the Summer 2012, and I got mega, mega hooked on it. Now, how did I deal with first becoming a Brony... Well, I definitely went through a phase for about four months where nopony but me knew, not even friends I had made online, save for the one friend who had recommended it to me on DeviantArt. I refused to tell anypony because I was super scared of what others would think of me. I already had one Brony friend in real life and my friends gave him a hard time about it all the freaking time, so I refused to tell any of them. But... one by one they all found out, and it turns out they didn't care, so then I quickly got over it. And I never really was in denial that I was a Brony at any stage of time, but I just simply didn't want to tell anypony else about it out of fear. Now, I'm as chill as an ice cube, baby. Paleopony 703 September 21, 2021 Share September 21, 2021 (edited) When I first watched MLP I couldn't believe how good it was and I thought to myself, "Why are you watching this? You're a 16 year old guy!". I dealt with it by hiding any evidence of my fandom, and if I was found out I would have been like Rainbow Dash in the clip below: Edited September 22, 2021 by Paleopony
Tom Gallagher 33,590 September 21, 2021 Share September 21, 2021 I was ashamed of it at first because I actually thought that I was regressing and not going in the right direction! I eventually realised that there’s nothing wrong with it! Signature made by the amazing @Sparklefan1234
EpicEnergy 23,222 October 19, 2021 Share October 19, 2021 At first I tried to keep it hidden from even my family, but eventually I stopped and showed that I was a brony to my family and even in public. I stopped showing it in public though. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
Flying Pencil 3,024 October 19, 2021 Share October 19, 2021 Mostly hidden it from my family, especially from my older sister. I soon told my mom and she was ok with it.
Pentium100 2,147 October 19, 2021 Share October 19, 2021 It's just another TV show I found that I like. Just like some anime TV shows and such. I don't feel the need to talk about it with people IRL (unless the conversation goes in that direction naturally).
Astralshy 27,086 October 20, 2021 Share October 20, 2021 well ... when I realized I like this so much my first thought was: Oh my.. what have I found here I haven't been ashamed of it. Why should I be anyway? There is nothing wrong in enjoying a good show show. This was really special for me really fast, so I didn't think it was just another show. So there was not much to deal for me. I just enjoyed and consumed this show while being under a corona lockdown/curfew
Splashee 28,566 October 20, 2021 Share October 20, 2021 Very conflicted. It was like my whole personality had shifted. I think it was at a time in my life when I felt I needed a chance. I had lost my identity. Okay, actually, I became a brony pretty late, and I had no problems with it. I have always had a soft spot for my childhood MLP G1, so becoming a brony was just as easy as.... saying it out loud. It is also slightly shorter than saying I am a "My Little Pony Fan"
